how to word the invite

daisybride, 14 June, 2010 at 15:27 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 1

Hi,

I'm planning our weddding in Zante for next June. I'm trying (really hard) to come up with a poem to put into the invitations for the guests. There a good few people that I would like to invite, but would somehow like to 'get across' to them in the invite that we know it will be expensive and we totally understand if they can't come, but we'd love it if they did!

Ive googled it but can't find anything, and my own attempts at poetry are poor, poor, poor!

Has anyone come across anything suitable or what have other brides used please?

I'm hoping some people may pleasantly surprise me and incorporate the wedding with their yearly holiday but how do I say all that so that it sounds good?

We're not going too formal, i'd really like something lighthearted and witty!

Help very much appreciated, please!

The way you've written it there is really quite nice and friendly - why don't you just write a letter to that effect? Sometimes I think poems can be a bit twee...

Thanks spaceychick. I've just re-read what I wrote and I guess it does sound quite nice written as I would just have said it. The majority of people we ask I see regularly and have already told them this anyway! ....... I have a few attempts though, I'll see what the groom thinks ?
