HR/Payroll - When would BACS be set up?

Mrs JMP, 25 February, 2009 at 23:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I posted a couple of weeks back about MrJMP having to go down the grievance route about an issue at work,

Since doing this things have got nasty ( fully expected) , but it's petty with what is being thrown back at him & the issue has still not been resolved. We have spoken to a solicitor & been advised on the legal aspect & he has full backing of the new Company he is going too.

There are 2 things that are a pressing matter, not only for MrJMP, but 7 of his staff - the Company have given another cause for concern.

Friday is pay day, it came to light last month that payroll was buggered up in October & the bonus to his staff was paid gross . MrJMP has requested as urgent confirmation that the tax will not be deducted from each person salary this month - HMRC said that the Company (if they are good) could allow each person to sort out their own tax over the next 6 mths in view of the fact their salaries & bonus have dropped a large amount. All that has been said is it will be looked into, after 10 days no answer as yet.

From my memory , am I right in thinking that BACS would be set up at some point tomorrow, so they should be able to be told what is getting paid?

If his salary should be in his account tomorrow, then the BACS transfer would/should have been done yesterday, as a BACS transfer takes 2 working days.

I process all the salaries for our company and yesterday the payments were transferred and payslips given out.

I did think it would have been done like that, but Finance yesterday said it won't be done until today - they don't get payslips until the day of pay. A simple yes or no if they are intending to deduct the tax would be a help

    Thanks

I use BACS for our payroll and it takes three working days. So anything I set up today for example will clear on Monday.
