hurty hand...WWYD?

kierenthecommunity, 2 July, 2009 at 18:09 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I have no idea what i've done but my hand reallly hurts. ?

it's basically at the base of my thumb/side of wrist. it started tuesday pm, and was on and off last night. it hurts mainly when i do something...like when i opened my car door, undid my bra etc. today its hurting more and i just picked up my camera and it killed ?

there's no bruising or swelling, and i can move my thumb/make a fist etc.

has anyone had anything like this, and will it wear off?

would a GP be able to help if it doesn't, or would it be an x-ray job?

and i have to work tonight ☹️

WWYD?

I had something similar last week but it was my middle three fingers at the base that were hurting for no reason at all. I went to the GP and she said she thought it was tendonitis and told me to take antiinflammatories (Ibuprofen) three times a day for a week. It's still hurting now but not as bad. If ot doesn't clear up soon though I'll be going back.

I would take some anti imflams asap and keep taking them over the weekend

If the problem is still there on monday then i would go and see the GP, it could be anything.

I do have similar sounding probs with my right hand/wrist but mine is Artritis which has shown up on xray, picking up the camera can be my pain prob and opening jars

Could it be RSI? I had that and got pains down the side of my thumb and up through my wrist and forearm. As everyone else said anti-inflammatories and rest were the best way forward

I had EXACTLY the same thing and the docs said it was RSI (I was doing TONS of typing/data entry - more so than normal) and told me to take painkillers and wear a stretchy support bandage and if it didn't improve then physio, but it went away after a week or so

I would recommend the same to you (support bandage = tubigrip) and see how you go.

You might also want to consider a wrist rest/support for your keyboard + mouse, it made a difference to me

    HTH
