Hello all.

Myn husband turns 30 this year and I am looking for some gift idea's for him.

May sound silly, but he isn't really 'in to' anything.

I have no budget as such....saying that I will be able to go up to about £500.

My H is next month; he's a bit of a gadget boy and already has pretty much all of the toys he would want; his present from me is a track day driving fast cars.

If he's not really into anything in particular, would he prefer a weekend away?

    Thank you all so far..

Nora, we will be in Cuba for his 30th so a weekend away would not really be ideal, unless I planned it for later in the year but then it's not really for his birthday!!!

I wasn't with mine when he was 30, but in your shoes with a budget of £500 I would probably source a good deal on a nice city /spa break. My H has a "big" birthday in August and I am taking him away. If you wanted something a bit different depending on his interests you could get him a Red Letter Experience Day. Personally, I would prefer something which I would also enjoy, so would probably go for the city/spa break!

Sorry-Just seen above. Maybe the Experience Day it is then?!

For my 30th I asked for, and got, a driving experience day: ferrari, porsche, audi rs4, subaru impreza, lotus elise which was £250 for full day driving all the cars on a disused airfield. It was awesome and my then BF also enjoyed taking photos etc.

If he likes gadgets: a PS3, iPhone with contract or LCD for the bedroom.

Would he like to go gliding? Hot air balloon right? Northern lights flight?

Fabulous meal at somewhere really special.....maybe followed by a show at the theatre or exploring a fab city.

With a budget of £500 you've got soooooooooo many options ?

Give us some more ideas of what he does in his spare time, where in the UK are you?

Is there anything you think he'd really like in Cuba?

Diving trip or something like that. You might be able to book it from the UK.

Deliciousdevilwomans suggestion of spa treatments might be good if you are already in Cuba?

I know he can't keep any of those but you could always get a little keepsake of the day.

Does he drink? Would he appreciate some whiskey from the year he was born?

There are some ideas here for trips in Cuba, such as boat trips and jungle tours, jet skis.......

Thank you so much Nora, you are being sooo helpful.

I will have a look at the website now.

As for the whiskey, no he would not like that. I have just looked at a website where you buy the newspaper for the date of his birthday so thats one idea....but not £500!!!

    *twee alert* ?

How long have you been together?

I made Mr Nora a book (sort of This is Your Life) starting with where we first met, with pictures and all sorts of stuff i'd kept - postcards, letters, ticket stubs, info from holidays we'd takem together etc. It went through the 10 years we'd been together and I gave it to him on the morning of our wedding. He loved it. It took days to put together but it was a nice keepsake. You can buy him a gift/experience etc but at least he'd have a keepsake too. On another birthday I had a book made for him with stories/comments/memories from all his friends and family. He loved that too.

    Hi

We were in Jersey (don't ask!) for my husband's 30th and I got him 30 presents to open on the day

It was a bit of a task and not all of the pressies were big and I think I possibly cheated by buying him a twin pack of pants, but I labeled them and got him to open them in order. It was fun and seemed to go down well. I took ictures of the bonsai tree I had bought him as obviously I couldn't put it in the suitcase. His main pressie was a watch, which I understand wouldn't work for you, but thought you might like 30 pressies idea

We were in Cuba over Xmas a few years ago and agreed to buy one another holiday related xmas pressies. He got a snorkel, some flip flops etc. Why don't you treat him to a swanky night in Havana or excursion.

Does he like his car or is there something for the house he would appreciate, or a membership of some kind...........

I think my idea store has now been used up!
