.... Roast chicken dinner! Cant believe it has taken me this long to do it, but I have finally given it a go. Have you tried cooking anything new recently? Was it successful or easier than you thought?

I made bolognese from scratch recently instead of being lazy and using a jar of sauce.

Now I'm not allowed to use a jar ever again.

    I made a solemn vow ?

Love roast chicken ? one of my favourites!!

I have recently cooked a Spanish omelette - well my version of it - with various vegetables and ham and new potatoes, it was yummy, and so simple!!! Will def be making that again!!

I haven't cooked anything new for a while. Tonight I did a lamb tagine type thing. Just chucked all kinds of stuff in the slow cook!

The last new thing I cooked was probably some falafel? I got the recipe from a supermarket magazine. Normally I hate those magazines as the recipes all involve ready cooked chicken or jars of sauce etc but Asda magazine seems to have more 'proper' recipes so will be looking out for more in there.

I am still trying to lose baby weight so mostly I am experimenting with salads!

I like making curries from scratch. I make a mean Malaysian pork and pineapple curry.

    Ooooh, yum, roast chicken!

Today I am baking a three-tier birthday cake for my eldest daughter - each layer consists of three cakes - two vanilla and a chocolate layer in the middle. I've just buttercreamed and dirty iced them so we shall see how it goes! Am off to make heart sweets from candy melts for the outside!

I cooked liver for the first time tonight. It's not something I would buy at the supermarket but since we rear our own meat, and we get the whole beast back from the butcher, it's something I'm going to have to get used to.......it wasn't a resounding success, I tolerated it with the help of lashings of gravy, OH couldn't stomach it and Poppy the pig ended up very well fed! What's worse is that there are leftovers in the pan and about 8 more portions in the freezer. Any liver tips anyone?

I really hate roast dinners. I don't know why, but I can't think of anything worse. Once a year at Christmas is fine for me.

I made my own creamy tomato pasta sauce last night which was lovely.

I love roast dinners and luckily so does my oh. I am however extremely embarrassed to admit as a Yorkshire lass born and bred.... I CANNOT make Yorkshire puddings. <hangs head in shame> I have never admitted this to mum - I buy frozen ones. Oh the shame of it all......

Yorkshire kiwi... Couldnt you just sell the liver on to the butcher? Or a local resteraunt? Home reared meat is a very attractive offer!! ?

Unfortunately not. In NZ sale, barter and even gifting of homekill meat is illegal to anyone outside of immediate family. It happens of course, but we don't know anyone in the butchering or hospitality trades well enough to risk approaching them.

We won't throw it away, but if i cant find a decent recipe it may well become dog meat for a friends dog, which seems a bit of a waste.

    I'd appreciate that recipe Bekki.
