I am desperado for a new mattress!! [help]

Nutella, 4 December, 2012 at 19:16 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

I am sick to my back teeth of waking up in the morning being poked by a spring ?

We had said we'd put up with it till we move house as our bed now will become our guest bed when we move but it's so awful that we really do need a new one. Budget is next to nothing though. I have zero experience of buying mattresses though (the one we've got came with the bed).

?

A temporary fix, but we had a memory foam topper on our old one and it made a difference to last us a bit longer

I sleep with ten inches of pure memory foam bliss each night, ooer. I love it and wouldn't ever go back to springs. Takes people a while to get used to my bed though, apparently it's not for everyone.

You need a cheapo furniture store.

There used to be a couple in Slough!

I know sometimes I sound like I actually work for Aldi, I recommend so much of their stuff... BUT Aldi have those memory foam toppers in at the moment, I saw them the other day. Cant remember how much.

Honestly, if you 'only' have £200 (yes I know it is a lot of money!) I would get a decent topper for now and save up a bit more for a really good mattress.

Our old mattress was about £150 for the bed and mattress, bed was cheapy metal and I reckon most of the cost was really for the mattress. It was awful. So, so awful. We did have a topper but it wasn't all that expensive either (it was really a 'short-term use' one) and as I'm heavier than H it would sink down on my side and be no good.

My parents gave us the quality mattress from my old bed instead when we moved and the difference is phenomenal. If they hadn't I would have invested properly in a new one as they will last a long time and let's face it you will spend a lot of your time in your bed if you are getting the recommended amount of sleep! We threw out the old mattress, I would not even have justified letting guests sleep on it occasionally as it had become that bad.

Or Dreams are having a sale on, this one is reduced: http://www.dreams.co.uk/mattresses/spirit-mattress-1/

How about a catalogue type place? Some you don't have to pay for a year? Might cost a bit mor in the long run, but Littlewoods/Very etc will probably do 10% off first orders

Aha I've just realised what a hussy that makes me look! In my defence I've had the mattress about 3 years now.

Thanks everyone for their help! We've just ordered one, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel - even if we have to wait 2 weeks for it!!
