That's terrible - (Presume they're using them to sell stuff pretending they've made it?) If so, can you report them to trading standards??? - or do you know a legal bod who can issue them with a "cease and desist"?
I've just tried contacting them but no reply, I am seething , it was actually a wedding I dressed for a Hitched Bride in 2005! I even have a picture of me stood in the venue with the Bride!
Oh my god! That is shocking!!! Is it one of your pic's or is it some cheeky mare that was at the wedding!? I thought your pics had your logo over them, how ruuude!
It has been taken from my album and they have even written details of how THEY dressed the wedding! They have used the Brides name & even changed the location of the wedding.
OMG thats BAD!!!! can you not report them to some regulating body or trading standards for false advertising, but i do wonder if there is no copy right that they can use the pics??? but obviously not advertise it as their work which is where the false advertising would come in!
I've just found that she is using pics of crystal bouquets from someone elses site as well, I have contacted them to let them know. Just wondering if the Tiaras are her work as well now!
I don't think she comes on here, if I get no joy I will N&S but I will give them the chance to remove them. Will still contact Trading Standards as they are not her work.
Hi Sherrie x just seen this on FB, bloody disgusting! Hope they get in big trouble ? Your work is beautiful and for someone to come along and take the credit is outrageous!
I'd be sooo mad i think i'd N & S them instantly. You've the patience of a saint i think! ?
I feel sorry for any brides that may have used her. Her work may not be up too the standard she is advertising.
I hope that she has the decency to remove the pictures that are not hers and apologise (although doubt you will get that), and that you don't have to take up any of your time going further.
A photographer I know had his whole website reproduced by a West Coast American....all his text and images....He was not happy. Detect who is hosting their website and complain to them. That will get the site taken offline pretty damn quick.....
Over the last 3 years I have had this a few times, in fact I have been given some good advice from these forums on how to deal with it. But the best advice was to send a letter like this to their registered offices:
Dear Sirs
It has come to our attention that you are displaying our copyright material on your website.
(your company name) asserts that the photographs you display are ours, and feature our designs. You are, by displaying them, attempting to gain a commercial advantage from work that is not your own and infringing our copyright.
We contacted you via email on [insert date] and requested that you remove the material from your site. We have not received the courtesy of a reply to that email. We enclose herewith a copy of that correspondence, and print outs of your website, displaying our copyright material at [insert date].
You are respectfully asked to remove the material from your website within 14 working days. If, after that period of time it has not been removed, we will be consulting our solicitors.
Yours sincerely
Send the letter 'Special Delivery'. Also send a copy of the letter to the web-host and notify them that this infringement is taking place on their server. This has worked for me more than once. Sometimes the owner of the company has no idea where their so-called web designer has unearthed these images from. You will get the registered address of the web-host from Nominet.
A customer of mine who specializes in internet related copyright infringement gave me the above letter as a template. He also told me that people who steal images are by their nature cheapskates and likely to remove the images as soon as they receive your letter.
If after the 14 days you have had no reply you can send a letter to Google inc. they can remove them from search results and will completely finish their business. But this is a last resort that can be legally complicated and possibly costly to everyone.
I have now spoken to another supplier who makes Tiaras & 90% of this person's Tiaras that she is claiming to make are hers! She has basically taken images from everyones website to make a site of her own. There are 3 suppliers that we have managed to trace & are all actively trying to contact the offender. We have the origiinal images and also one of the suppliers even has one of the Tiaras in her cupboard!
Surprise surprise after another supplier contacting her she has removed everything from her site! but is still adament that she dressed the venue, which she says was acommunity centre in Scotland which in fact was a hotel in Bath!!!!!
So she has been caught red handed in effect and still denying it!? How ruude!
I think you should still raise this with Trading Standards, what if she just goes round and takes more of other peoples sites now to replace the ones she has had to take down!?
I think she's finally removed the venue dressing photos too, Sherrie. Well done!
?? at her being adamant about the venue - the photo was yours, plus you had a photo of you with the bride at the venue (with the same dressing) to prove it - how on earth did she think she'd get away with that? What a loathsome, devious and incompetent individual. If she has to steal images from several different types of suppliers and try to pass them off as her own then she's obviously not able to provide nor has ever provided those services, otherwise she'd be proud to want to show off her own work. I see she's apparently exhibiting at a fair this June - makes my blood boil!
Omg sherrie that is disgusting, glad that she has finally removed all the photos, makes you wonder about the quality of her own work/what experience she actually has. Hope no Brides get caught out, ☹️ really hate how easy it is to copy images off the net.
Hi Sherrie, that's disgusting and against copyright laws. They're using your images and "passing off" as it's known as their own work. You can report them to their website, google wherever (google hate this kind of thing) or via a webmaster. You need to keep trying to contact them - if no joy with their website holder/google - get a solicitors letter sent to them. I used to work with a solicitor who deals with this kind of stuff - if you need contact details just let me know (he is really good and very knowledgeable). If they don't remove your pics - they get sued!
It's disgraceful - I too would be seething if I saw that someone had used one of our video samples on their website, claiming it to be their own work. I don't think TS will help tbh although they are great at consumer law and breaches of that etc. However they may be able to advise a suitable avenue to go down.
Angry on your behalf - for any misdirected business. Also annoyed that they're trying to dupe brides who have a hard enough time trying to choose the right supplier when they're representing themselves honestly!
The woman in South Wales still hasn't removed my image from her website - so cross. I phoned her - it was obviously a home phone number and she said it was her work, it had been on her site for 3 years and put the phone down on me. I phoned back, no answer left a message and said she had a week to remove it - she still hasn't.
So will be taking Marc's advice and getting Trading Standards involved too - she could have easily re-created my balloon decoration and taken a photo of it!!!!
