I am the world's worst wife

Knownowt, 11 November, 2008 at 15:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 23

Waaah, I've just locked my husband in the garden for two hours ??

He went to do some gardening a few hours ago and, feeling kind, I opened the back door to ask whether he wanted a cup of coffee. I then closed to door and, on autopilot, locked it, then went upstairs to do some other stuff, out of hearing of the garden.

Poor H was stuck out there for two hours ? Not only that, but he used the spare time to rake up the leaves and tidy the shed. My word, if he had shut me in the garden for two hours I think I would have lost my temper at him completely, but he just laughed. I'm fairly sure I would have cried at some point during the two hours as well- I certainly wouldn't have got the rake out ?

What bad-wifely things have you done recently?

I wish I could lock my H in the garden for 2 hours?

Although he would probably quite enjoy it as he would have access to the garage which has a fridge in it with lots of beer and wine in it!

    ?

H nearly did this to me but it would have been all day! We'd been out in the garden before he was going to work and he went around the corner and I was checking something down at the bottom of the garden. He came back around the corner, didn't see me, went in the house and locked the door (on autopilot!). He was wondering around the house calling me as he needed to leave for work - I was banging on the door. Fortunately he heard me!

I don't think I have any stories where I've been a bad wife - not to compare to this anyway!

Your poor H. If it had been me stuck in the garden i'd have been furious.

Can't think of anything too bad that i've done recently. We've only been married about 12 weeks so we're still in the honeymoon period i think.

Served him a bowl of washing powder when his response to the question of "what do you want for dinner?" was "Ooh, I'm not bothered. Anything will do".

Filled his undies drawer with glitter when I got fed up of always being the one to put the washing away. When asked about it (apparently glittery grollies made his football team snigger at him), I told it must have been cast off from the Laundry Fairy.

Maybe Mr JK could join you on the worst life-partner bench?

Last night I offered to pick him up from an en route station, about half-way to home, because he felt poorly and I figured even half a ride home in a car would be preferable to a stuffy carriage. I should add that this station is a 40 minute drive from home. A 40 minute drive on a filthy night with waterlogged roads, and two tired kids in the back.

He 'misunderstood', and didn't get off the train. The first I know is an emptying and then empty car park, and finally, a reply to my text. Seethe.

40 minutes of more rain, and children snoring, later, I get home. 10 minutes before him, if that.

    <Fume> ?

Oh god, I did something dreadful to loml recently. Unfortunately it was so terrible I've erased it from my memory.

Presumably if MrKN had been that cold or miserable he could have phoned you from a call boxc, or from a neighbour's?

Fantastic - i'll have to come up with something because H always says that he's not bothered what he had for tea.

Sophie, Nick, we live in a mid-terrace and the garden is completely enclosed by high walls. He could have climbed over the wall, I suppose, but it's not easy and then he'd only have been in next door's garden so no better off if they weren't in ?

The garden of the Latvian embassy. It would take a braver (and stupider) man than my husband to try to climb into there ?

He did bang on the door, repeatedly. I was upstairs and didn't hear him (I thought I said that).

That one made me laugh out loud, mostly because my H snores and one of our cats weighs 8kg! ? Mind you it is his birthday so maybe I'll give him a reprieve tonight.

    Love these!

On Monday I opened his car door (new, 58 plate car) onto a brick wall and have caused circa £1k damage. He laughed and rolled his eyes.

On Tuesday I set my alarm to get us all up at 6.30am. What I hadn't realised is I'd not used my clock for a while so it hadn't had the hour altered. So I woke him and two children up at 5.30am.

    We're waiting for the third.

    He's wonderful, I'm crap.
