Hi I'm Harriet, I'm 26, from Cheshire, I'm a financial manager, student of conservation biology and environmental science, and I'm going to be a bride!!!!

I've been with Jason since 2012, we moved in together in 2016. We hope to be married around 2022-23. Firm believers in slow and steady! Jason is from Limerick, Ireland, he is an immigration case worker for the government and also a student of conservation biology and environmental science. We have hopes of moving from the UK to Canada once we have our masters to work as conservationists.

No plans for kids but we have 2 very loved dogs. We're also saving to buy our own house so our wedding is going to be on a budget.

He asked me yesterday and I'm currently typing this from our hotel room in Sicily (as Jason is sleeping off the celebratory drinks from last night); there is a storm raging outside Smiley sad he took me to Palermo botanical gardens which was the most beautiful, tranquil place I've ever been. We sat by a beautiful huge pond with lily pads, dragon flies and terrapins coming and going. Then he got down on one knee and said he wants to spend his life with me! He'd asked my dad back in February. He made the ring himself!! It's perfect.

I look forward to getting to know you all and getting ideas for my wedding!!

Congratulations! Sounds like a perfect proposal indeed - way to go on your fiance making the ring himself, as well!

I'm also fairly new to the forum, as we got engaged in August. I probably don't live a million miles from you, as I'm in Greater Manchester, near Stockport. We're getting married in September 2019, so we are not having a very protracted engagement. We have been together three years.

Good luck with all your planning and I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm currently doing xx

Welcome. and congratulations! Your ring sounds fantastic, would love to see pictures!

Hope you're planning goes well, I'm sure you'll get itchy fingers to start soon, even though you have a few years. I get married in 8 days (eek!) and this last couple of months has been the looooongest wait ever, I just want it over with already!

You've given yourself plenty of time to spread things out nicely though, so hopefully you'll avoid the manic stresses that usually come with planning a wedding! Good Luck! ❤️

Thank you so much and good luck for your big day!! I used to work as staff for wedding venues and always had soo much fun decorating the venue and watching each wedding. I have so many good ideas and a solid picture of how my wedding will look, but also the sense to know that it will definitely not play out 100% "perfect" and that's fine! The best weddings were the ones were the bride and groom were just happy and relaxed and didn't care if everything wasn't spot on. I once had a bride come in moments before the ceremony - in her dress - to check the centre pieces looked perfect... hmm.

I'll post my ring below as I'm having trouble navigating on my mobile Smiley smile
