I could cry, I've ran out of time...

Elaine1345, 28 January, 2014 at 12:14 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 10

I really could cry right now and I know it probably sounds really stupid.

I always used to be around the 11st but over the last few years I put on and at my heaviest I was 13st 10lbs.

I have been trying to lose weight before my wedding dress arrives and I am now 12st 11lbs so I have lost nearly a stone but I really wanted to lose more.

My wedding dress wasn't due for collection until middle of February but it's arrived early, I had the phonecall this morning. So they are asking me to go and do final measurements etc for adjustments.

I've ran out of time, and I just feel fat. Smiley sad

My wedding is the beginning of April, and my hen night is two weeks before that so I need to be careful.

Do I make an appointment for final measurements and aim to lose say 6lbs more so I'm on the safe side?

ONe of my friends told me the other day that someone recently said "I think Elaine is putting on weight" and she came back to her and said "Actually, she's lost nearly a stone!". Are people going to think I'm fat walking down the aisle? I feel so sad atm. Smiley sad

Have some weird internety hugs ?

You haven't run out of time at all, you have still got two whole months so if you lost 2lb a week just over a stone is achievable ;-)

I have been using myfitnesspal and I have found it really good so that might be worth a go?

Don't be upset and don't listen to silly comments, something's you just don't need to hear. I'v use my fitness buddy too and cut out all the 'crap' and just eat 3 meals a day. Try running up and down stairs for just 5 mins a day and you will see a difference. Little changes help loads and you don't feel like ur running urself into ground. I'm sure you will look lovely and on the day you will feel a million dollars xx

Can you say no to the fitting and ask for it to be postponed/arranged at the original time. That seems early for a final fitting anyway as most brides to be want to slim down before their big day.

My advice would be - don't lose hope and keep doing what you're doing. It seems like you've done so well so you must be doing something right.

As for people making comments...I think the person who told you this is out to do more damage than the person making the original remark. Nothing good could have come from them telling you that someone said something about you putting on weight! People are daft, ignore them!

I'd maybe tell a white lie to the shop to delay a couple of weeks and go in when you planned.

Just really push on the exercise and diet in the next couple of weeks.

Delay the shop for definite. It's not your fault they got a delivery early.

as for dropping the "extra" weight - although you sound plenty skinny to me!! Lol! - try slimming world. You lose an average of about 5lbs in your first week alone, and if you stick to plan could easily drop a stone before ur big day. I've lost 1.5 stone since September, and that was with time off over Xmas etc. and with no exercise. It's doable. If you want to do it.

    Good luck!! X

Ask the shop what's the absolute latest you can do your fitting - mine said up to a week or two before I think, so just do the one fitting with measurements etc, then just try it on again maybe the week before. They will try and get you to do two fittings, with the first as far away from the wedding as possible, just to try and get more money out of you! Seriously! My seamstress is charging me £50 for my dress alterations, and all I'm having done is a little hole put in so the lace can be pulled through (which my mum asked for) and then she said the hook and eye had to be moved. I didn't see a problem with it at all, but they do this as they know you want it to be perfect and try and charge you the earth.

In the meantime, you've got plenty of time to lose the extra stone - like 8 weeks? You could lose over a stone if you have a steady 2lb a week loss. Use MyFitnessPal, stick to it, even on weekends - I've been trying to shift "those last few pounds" for ages, and only since Christmas did I stop having 'treat days' on the weekend, and I lost 5lbs in 4 weeks! And I was already slim at 10 stone and 5"6 before I lost weight!!!! So honestly, you will do it!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Oh bless you!! Take no notice of stupid people who think it's ok to mention your weight. I would put off the fitting until you are ready for it - it's definitely not your fault they got the dress early so they shouldn't have a problem with that. Concentrate on just how well you've done to lose that stone and carry on with the hard work. You can do it xxx

Don't be disheartened you still have plenty of time left to shift them few pounds you want to. Just tell the shop your not happy to have the fitting yet as you still intend to lose a little more weight and you don't want to get the dress altered until closer to the time.

Ive lost a 1 1/2 stone since last June and dont want to loose any more but i think i have peaked to early, ive still got 3 months until the wedding and i'm struggling to keep my hands out of the biscuit tin. I'd rather still have a goal in sight and be working towards it. Good luck and dont worry you will look beautiful wether you loose any more weight or not xx

    Hi

First things first. Don't listen to the garbage that people spout. Secondly, postpone the dress fitting. At the end of the day you have paid for the wedding dress and as part of that that includes the final fitting of which you can choose the date and don't let then tell you otherwise. Thirdly, I am a personal trainer and I can ensure you it is never too late to change something.

    So...

    Make tomorrow day 1.

Firstly, its important to eat 4-5 times a day by that I mean a. healthily and be not huge meals.

Secondly, anything sugary or refined needs to go! Any sugar based product will generally give you a big shot of glucose on your system followed by a crash as your insulin tries to deal with the rush. Whatever you had will then flash through your body and be gone again. Change the sweet sugary items for a health option (Fruit is good in moderation - especially if it keeps the skin on)

Thirdly, (providing you are physically able to) exercise at least 2 hours and 30 minutes a week. (Assume this intensity level 1= barely moving, 10 = I can do this exercise for around 10 seconds)Try to make the exercise a high intensity and interval. So for example if you run on a treadmill, run for 1 minute at level 5 and then one minute at level 7 and then back to level 5. Remember its Your level. If you don't have access to gym equipment, find a hill, run up it and jog down.

This type of exercise will help improve your heart and lungs and will also aide in you reducing the % of body fat which will lead to a flatter stomach and a healthier body.

Fourthly, avoid quick fix diets or anything claiming outrageous statements. If its pulled out of the ground or an animal and modified to be something else then its probably not too good for you.

Eat healthy carbs - wholegrain, wholemeal, oats, brown rice - they will give you energy and leave you full for a longer length of time.

Avoid - simple carbs - sugar, syrup, too much fruit - this will stop you a having spikes and dips

Eat protein - chicken, oily fish (twice weekly) - this will help prepare your muscles after exercise and also while you sleep

Eat vegetables - this is an obvious one as it give you vitamins and minerals. However, it also gives you fibre which slows down your digestion. This again makes you feel fuller for longer.

    Drink water - 2 litres + a day

Finally, have a mid morning snack and a mid afternoon one if you feel like it. This will stop your body entering starvation mode. Starvation mode is a basic systemic response. If you don't eat for 2-4 hours your body will begin to store fat through fear of starvation when you eat a again it will get its energy from the food you eat not from the fat its stored. Your body doesn't realise that you are 10 feet from a take away as it doesn't work on a conscious level.

Oh and one last thing... You WILL be beautiful no matter what.

    x

P.S all of this is based on the average person. Please only do things I have suggested if you are fit to do so.

I swear by my fitness dvds. Gillian Michaels 30 day Shred is really good and Davina Intense. They are both no more than 20 minutes long and are good fat burners as well as all over body work outs. I'm sure you will look beautiful walking down the aisle. Good luck.
