I finally bought my dress - Just one question!

miss_sunshine, 19 January, 2012 at 11:49 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi Ladies,

I finally bought my dress!!! (from Ireland for a fraction of the retail price as it was a sample dress). It is the Justin Alexander 8530. Really really happy with it. It fits, is the right length perfect colour... I can't believe my luck. It looks fantastic on!!! Smiley smile Smiley smile Smiley smile

I loved the fact you could wear the veil as a veil or attach it to the back of the dress to make a long train. Perfect I thought I have always wanted a long train that could be removed for the reception.

Just one problem. How does it attach on to the dress? It have two clothes hooks and a see through press stud but nothing on the dress. I can't imagine you just hook it on to the lace as it would just pull at it and tare it.

Does anyone have this dress? Has anyone seen how to attach it? Any ideas?

Thanks x

    Exciting!!!!

I would have thought a seamstress will be able to attached something, but you would have thought it would already be on the dress, it dosent clip in behind the buttons somehow?

I found a few ads/ forum posts about the dress, might be worth getting in touch with one of these to ask someone who has worn the dress?

Hello!! That's my dress too, I love it

When I tried it on in the shop the veil and the dress had clear press studs. I thought a press stud would come in 2 parts, is one of them missing? If so, I would take it to a seamstress.

I need to get the veil altered to attach it to the back of the dress. Also going to sew some crystals on the dress too, if I dare!

    Hi,

I have bought this dress, also a sample but didn't get the veil/bustle with it! I'm currently watching the veil on ebay but have been trying to find more pictures of it used as a veil. The pictures on JA don't really show it off very well. I asked the seller on ebay to send me some photos's but she replied "as the JA website". Have any of you tried it on as a veil & took any photo's? Could I see them if you have please? My email is ************@*******.**.**.

If I don't get this veil I tried a cathedral length lace edged veil on in the shop which looked lovely. Would just really like to see the JA one in real life.

    Thanks in anticipation x

How are you ladies getting this dress as a sample!! I have emailed loads of bridal stores within the North West and none of them have a sample dress there selling. One lady told me this dress was new for 2012 so i definatly wont get a sample dress for a long time. Dont think she knew what she was talking about Smiley smile

    Hi there

I got mine from sellmyweddingdress website, there was one more available on there when I bought mine. Thought there had been a couple on ebay in the last few weeks too

Otherwise I know 2 shops that have it in , sizes 10 and 16 (midlands). Not sure if they would sell as a sample but worth a try!!

I have an appointment booked for April to try on the gown but it is abit more than what I wanted to pay. I am not getting married till September 2013 so if the dress is 'the one' then I do have time to keep looking to see if I can get the dress cheaper.

Im abit unsure about buying my dress online, just incase it didnt fit when it arrived! Did you try the dress on in store first for you to know your size then found the dress online?

I have noticed alot of second hand dresses but I didnt find them that much cheaper than a new one, £300 difference thats it.

    Hi Ladies...

I sorry It has taken me ages to reply!!!! Anyway so I got on FB and joined the Justin Alexander page and asked them my question and as soon as they explained how the veil got put on I saw the press studs on the dress to attach it! I must have been blind! Any way it looks so lovely with it coming off the back of the dress...

I think sample dresses are few and far between but it was new for Jan 2011 not 2012 so it getting to be old stock now so there may be some in the sales as new season comes out.

Sorry I don't have any photos of me wearing the veil!!! I personally don't like it over the head as the flowers on it are quite big.

I was unsure of buying on line too but made sure the bridal shop that sold me the dress actually existed by googling it.

My dress doesn't fit and will have to be altered but the price I got it for plus alterations is still v cheap for the price of a newly ordered one. I think you will find it difficult to find a dress on line and it fit you exactly!!!! so bare that cost in mind.

Thanks for all your replies ladies and good luck in finding samples!!!! Smiley smile
