I got carried away again.....I'm an idiot

Aykay, 21 May, 2014 at 08:28 Posted on Planning 0 9

£120 on ties and pocket squares (ties for 4,pocket squares for 2). I should not be allowed into a bridal shop without a responsible adult- h2b was with me but he is obviously just as stupid so he doesn't count.

and I ordered a petticoat from the shop...I know I could have got it cheaper so am really annoyed at myself.

Pointless post but I am usually so good with the household budget and will not admit to anyone else that I am just too stressed to be bothered shopping around so am literally paying for an easier time.

Money seems to mean something different in wedding land. lol I've been worrying that we're not going to be able to save enough money in time and tryng to get everything on a budget so why have I spend all morning searching for a string quartet and telling myself that £300 is nothing!?

Can't you cancel and get a refund? It's definitely worth shopping around. Think about what you will spend the money you've saved on.....e.g. extra spending money on honeymoon?? Look at DQT ties, ours were £6.99 each!

Hehe! Weddings are funny things! I am putting my wedding together on budget (Under 3K) but I had to have the RIGHT cravats for the boys and ended up getting them handmade as I couldn't get what I wanted anywhere! Smiley smile

I cant cancel as already paid half as a deposit. Serves me right for getting too excited about my dress arriving and not being sensible. Ah well, you live and learn.

I do think financial sensibility goes out of the window when it comes to weddings! I'm being very sensible but only because we are on a £3k budget. That said, if we wasn't having loads done for us as gifts we would be looking at double the spend.

I have a rule that I don't take the credit card when I go out so that way I can't buy impulse wedding stuff. This then means I can go home, have a look around and see if I can get a better deal elsewhere.

You are right, Financial sensibility does go out the window? but for me it all goes on equipment (cameras/lenses) my wife never batters an eyelid when something new comes in the post because she knows I need it lol, but seriously you make the wedding your own and if you see something you want then you have to have it.?
