I got my dress (with flashes)

Yorkbridetobe, 14 November, 2010 at 19:38 Posted on Planning 0 72

Hi, I bought my dress on Friday. ? On the bad side I haven't got any photos of me in it sadly as I went on my own to A. View the dress and B. buy the dress. .....

However I do have some photos of it on the hanger in my bedroom. (I just need to find somewhere to keep it).

It's an athena maria dress made by Stevies gowns or so i believe. I have very small breasts so it's comfortable for me, where as if i was to wear strapless i would be worrying and constantly pulling my dress up at least with this dress i can feel comfortable all day. Plus it flatters my figure. xx

I love the detailing on the straps and top of the bodice, I also really like the buttons down the back.

I live in York and come from Newcastle originally. Do you live in York? I'm not too sure I didn't go for either vintage or modern but everyone says it's vintage but i've no idea what decade it would have come from... Do you? And I don't think it's vintage. xx

Its hard to tell with it not being on as the other said maybe 80s but depending on how it hangs I can see50s/60s look to it as well with the lace detail and the full skirt!

No Im in East Yorkshire so not too far away but visit York regularly its a lovely place and my OH works near to it, where abouts are you getting married? x

People say it has a look of Liz Taylor and Ditta Vin Tesse to it.

I used to live in Scarborough as well. I live in Huntington hich is ten minutes walk from the city centre.

I will be getting married in York Pavillion Hotel. xx

Depends on their shape and what suits them. I'm having strapless maxi dresses, quite floaty but very flattering. You could have any style you like, doesn't have to match the wedding dress x

I just thought with the 1950's cocktail wedding dresses, cocktail bridesmaid dresses look lovely too.

I have no idea what I like, my bridesmaids all want long length dresses, but should I have straps ir strapless or? xx

I didn't think you knew what decade your wedding dress was? If it is 50s, then 50s BM dresses would look good. Why don't you go out with your BMs so they can try dresses on and see what looks best

I see, yeah they look fab. I think your best bet is to go on a shopping trip (any excuse!) and get them to try lots on to see what they look best in x
