I have discovered the delights of being girlie

Sare, 8 February, 2009 at 13:17 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Being honest, I am not a girlie girl. I have never used handcream and nights of long baths and pampering are a distant pre-children memory.

I've also never been able to afford to "waste" money on myself.

But I was given money for Christmas and yesterday bought new shoes, expensive (well to me anyway) hand scrub from Boots and got a free No7 goody bag with protect and perfect serum in it, and other nice stuff. I now have the softest hands ever, a silky soft face and have been walking with a spring in my step.

I've also booked a haircut for Wednesday and a blow dry so I'm all set for a night out on Wednesday with work.

I feel I could definitely get used to this, so may have to either add "generous millionaire" to my next ideal husband list, or win the lottery!

Argh, you talking about the No7 goody bag has made me just go on a mad splurge on boots.com.

Joking aside, you deserve nice things to happen to you. You never know, your millionaire might be out on Wednesday night ?

Good for you! You will find it is addictive as well, you just want to do more and more! Also, there are lots of pampering products out there that aren't expensive, Tesco's own brand (Skin Wisdom I think) has some nice stuff. When I want to treat myself I get Sanctuary or Soap and Glory from Boots, either when it is 3 for 2 (quite often) or I use my advantage points.

I love a soak in the bath and since I split up with my OH the en-suite has been mine all mine, my best friend bought me a bale of white fluffy towels for my birthday and it's girly heaven in there!

    Good for you sare!

if you fancy a REALLY lovely treat, book a pedicure. i LOVE them, and the joy i get from looking at my perfectly painted nails and soft tootsies for weeks after makes them a prudent and wise investment ?

I would LOVE a pedicure but my feet are so full of thick skin and hobbit-like that I would need a pedicure before I would dare have a pedicure?

I know exactly what you mean, since i had a pedicure for my birthday last summer it was so lovely having pretty looking feet that now i do actually make the effort to look after them. I have a collection of nail varnishes and redo them every fortnight or so. I know it's daft cos at this time of the year they are stuffed firmly into boots and it's only me and H that really see my feet but it makes me feel better to know that they are all neat and tidy and nicely painted.

You enjoy yourself Sare and make the most of spending a little time on yourself, it's such a good way to give yourself a bit of a lift without it having to cost you a fortune. ?

I second Lois in that-you will love it!

Re the pedicure-until about 7-8 years ago, I didn't look after my feet-ill fitting shoes, unvarnished toes, heels as tough as break pads! I braved a walk in nail bar run by koreans. Didn't feel as intimidating as some fancy smancy spa/salon. It was the best pedicure ever-I left there walking on air. Not a patch of hard skin left. I went regularly until I moved. I tend to go to the beauty salon in my gym or hotels if we go away on spa breaks these days, but they imo aren't as good as nail bars run by Koreans-and I have been to several.
