We have been married for 15 years and he never fails to impress me. as i have got a bad knee this is what my hubby did ( without moaning or being asked to ) fro me the weekend - sat and sun

took dog for 3 walks

fed kids etc.

put washing in machine, took it to dryer, took it out and ironed it and then put it away.

went food shopping

tidied up the whole house

cleaned the kitchen

cooked dinner

washed up

put kids to bed

let me have a lie in both sat and sun.

sorry but i am ssooooooo fortunate that i have got a man in a million and i love him to pieces.

Actually, I am the best husband ever. Chicken may take offence at that comment as well.

My H has been a star this year. Despite working an average of 100 hours a week since May he has still managed to do everything in the house including decorating the hall, stairs and landing (with me painting the woodwork)!! We compromise on the ironing as he is crap and we send that out to be done but as I have been laid up all summer he has done everything. And on top of that has been sleeping on a blow up mattress on the floor coz I couldn't stand having anyone in bed with me but didn't want to be alone in the room at night.

Mine's been quite good to me this weekend as well. He did all the housework while I was in bed due to pregnancy tiredness in the middle of the afternoon, and took me out for dinner on Saturday.

Well thats really sweet of your husband but isn;t that stuff normally what you do a day-to-day basis anyway? I had a little discussion with my husband last night because he tidied our bedroom without me asking him to. He did a really good job, however he wanted recognition for it. What he failed to realise was I had spent 3 hours doing the ironing, baked a cake and cleaned the kitchen all without being asked and without the need for applause from him. When I pointed this out to him he really didn't understand what I was talking about, of course i thanked him but I certainly wasn't going to make a song and dance about it.

Why do some men need to be recognised for all their unasked efforts when women (and some men of course) get on with day-to-day chores without the need for a big applause?

She didn't say he asked for recognition did she, just that she was pleased with what he had done?

It seems a bit churlish to come on a thread where someone is praising their husband and moan about yours.

I'm not moaning about mine, I'm just using him as an example. I just find it odd that threads about 'wonderful husband' tend to involve them doing lots of housework without being asked, yet as women we do this as an everyday occurance.

It depends on everyone's domestic arrangements, though. My husband would be astounded if I mowed the lawn, as that's one of 'his jobs'. Likewise, if he dusted I think I'd fall over in shock.

Speak for yourself. If that's the dynamic of your relationship then sort it out but don't piss on the OP's parade. You have no idea of their domestic life.

This weekend I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, hoovered throughout, washed up, took out the rubbish, brought in the laundry and offered to buy G&T a new leather jacket and a diamond ring.

All in a day's work really.

For me, I'm a SAHM so the housework usually falls under my remit, although Mr Hole still does all the hoovering, gardening, decorating, etc. So, when he sees I'm struggling and does a bit extra to give me a break, I think it's worthy of a bit of praise.

Maybe you should have started another thread about the subject if it bothers you instead of pissing on someone elses chips.

I don't think I'm pissing on anyones chips and I did point out how sweet if was of her husband to do those things for her in my original post, I was just mearly making an observation (I was only just discussing this subject with my mum this this morning which is why I mentioned it). I'm sorry if I caused any offence in my post it wasn't my attention.

    bleck!

sorry, no useful input from me here. but i wouldn't want anyone to piss on my chips. i haven't had chips for ages, so it would be adding insult to injury if i got some and someone pissed on them [:'(] i'd rather they pissed on my parade, as i would warn the marching band to be ready to swerve.
