I know its a bit early to be worrying...

yummymummy05, 19 August, 2010 at 21:31 Posted on Planning 0 13

...about the weather. But from what i can remember, it always rains on Bonfire Night (my wedding day).

Please can someone correct me and tell me i'm wrong. I know the weather is very unpredictable and out of my hands but as far back as i can remember it has always been cold and wet on Bonfire night.

I was at a wedding on 5th November and it was a gorgeous day. It was cold but it was a lovely crisp cold day with the sun shining through.

My birthday is the 4th and i've had some lovely days we even had a bonfire party one year and everyone was ouside, it was cold but dry. Often ended up having party's etc on 5th because of when weekends fall and it doesn't always rain!

Definitely dry last year, we were at a bonfire party and were in the garden all night!

    You'll have a fab time!

I'm the same though, i keep thinking about the weather.....i get married a year today...and i've woken up to awful weather this morning.....who said August was part of our summer??!!

And i'm assuming you'll have fireworks? I LOVE fireworks but have managed to book a venue that doesn't allow them!

Have a great day Cosmo, i'll have everything crossed for the weather for you :o)

When our daughter was little, we used to go to Centre Parcs every November during Bonfire Night week and it never rained then so it doesn't rain every Bonfire Night but I wouldn't worry about it. Our daughter is marrying in March high up on the Pennine Moors and I was worried about snow but it's out of our control so I'm actually expecting it to snow now and then if it doesn't, it'll be a bonus!

It's never too early to worry about the weather in the UK!! I remember some gorgeous Nov 5th days and evenings though, so it doesn't *always* rain. Anyway, rainy wedding shots can be just beautiful if your photographer is clever about it. You could get really pretty bridal umbrellas - -oohooh! and I've seen some seriously cute photos of brides with wellies on under their dress!

Check these out (pilfered from a quick look on google images!)

    GORGEOUS!!!

Is it sad that i've been checking the weather for previous years on the 5th?

Thanks ladies, you've cheered me up a bit. We're not allowed fireworks as the venue doesnt have a license, but we're kind of up in the hills and down the road from a housing estate so will have plenty of fireworks around us.

I'm one of those people who always expects the worst. Even though i am getting married in Aug the weather in Northern Ireland is always bad in the summer so i am expecting rain then if i dot get it its a bonus. I even bought some gorge heart shaped white umbrellas just in case.

WOW, how fantastic are you? Bonfire night is an amazing night to get married, just think all those amazing fireworks you don't have to pay for!

I'm being boring and booking the date for his birthday in June as it's the only date that sticks in his head, at least he'll remember the anniversary lol, we're planning a bbq which means it will defo rain

I think no matter what the date and no matter what the weather you will have an absolute blast

H2B even chose the date!! Original date was 25 June this year but we had a few things going on around us (long story but we was taking our old landlord to court) and didnt think we'd have time to save up and pay for it. We had already decided on the venue so H2B had a day off work one day last year and decided to go up and see what was free. He rang me and asked if it was ok. Said yes and Bobs your uncle (as they say). Its only 3 days before our anniversary and his way of thinking is that he will NEVER forget our anniversary. ?
