I know this may not be popular but I have to express my thoughts of a particular term....

'Squee'

Surely this word cannot be used in a way that doesn't make it sound like you're excited about your new my little pony toy?

I know I'm probably alone....and I won't mention it again. I just had to get it off my chest.

I don't like it but it doesn't make me think of a 'My Little Pony'.

On my wedding video after we are pronounced husband and wife... you can see my physically bounce up and down, clap my hands and squee!

I make no apologies for who I am.

We have a particular monitoring spreadsheet at work that because of its colour coding is known as "My Little Pony". It works for us.

There isn't anything wrong with sounding excited, although Squee to me does sounds a bit ridiculous. That's just me though. I slip out with the odd lol but I can't help it.

See I am the opposite, squeee I am fine with (although it is generally more eeee when spoken). Saying LOL out loud sounds weird to me!

Agreed, nothing wrong with being excited. Not saying I'm not excited about most things related to weddings (although doing the crafting for all the invites took the edge off after the 50th one!) just don't like the phrase squee.

I could bore on for an eon about dress shopping and the excitement of finding the right accessories!

Please everyone, continue with your excitement. I do feel better for getting it off my chest though. Posted it off topic so that I didn't upset too many people.

I should have clarified. I have never used "lol" out loud, oh my that is just wrong. Do you say Squee out loud? I thought the OP meant in writting terms not speaking.

Squeeeeee for me is a feeling as opposed to an action, although i definitely made a 'squee' noise on the morning of my wedding.

Woohoo for me. I think it's closer to the sound I make when I'm excited.

I dislike Woohoo and Whoop whoop a lot. Especially when a 30year old woman on my FB (not anymore) puts one of these after every flipping status.

Sometimes squeeee is the only way to express a particular level of excitement when writing it down on a forum such as this!! If I see someone squeeeeing I imagine them bouncing up and down with excitement with a massive grin (or trying to contain these actions if at work). Woohoo or yippee just simply won't suffice.

"Whoop whoop" is the noise a guinea pig makes, surely?

    I quite like woo hoo.

To clarify it is definitely the written version that bothers me. If someone squeals with delight out loud then I'm all for it

Ah yes, but is it in every FB status you write. For example; 'Off to work, whoop whoop!' then later 'home from work, whoop whoop'. I'm not even joking. ?

I thought guinea pigs were more 'wheep wheep'?

    I don't squee but I like it.

I'm a woohoo kind of girl.

And the phrase 'getting it off my chest' reminds me of phlegm
