I must be utterly mad (running related)

I've just entered my first ever race ... a Half Marathon!! ?

It's not until 11th October so I can continue slogging away at the Bupa Training Plan I'm following (1 week down, 11 to go!) and my H is running it with me. He did last year's event in 1 hr 40 but he'll be going considerably slower than that this time around as he said he'd run at my pace which is slooooooow.

But I'm in. I've paid my fee. No turning back. (Is it really possible to jump straight in and do a HM when you've never run a race in your life before?!)

    Well done on entering!

Yes it is perfectly fine to jump straight in with a half marathon. My first ever race was a 20 miler followed 2 weeks later by a half marathon then about a month later a full marathon. This was all done from not running at all about 6 months before.

You will be fine, just build up the miles very slowly ?

Is it the Royal Parks one? If so, my H is doing that. He has done a bit of running before but only a 5km fun run in terms of races. He was training 3 times a week in May and June but since then hasn't so have no idea how he will do!

Good luck though, I need to sort myself out and attempt to run!
