I need an AMAZING gift for my mum

kate.s, 31 July, 2012 at 15:46 Posted on Planning 0 6

I've cut this fine as i have 3 weeks to come to a dicision about what to get my mum to say thank you and i've been trying to find something for the past 2 months!

My mum has helped out so so much with getting my backside in gear and planning that i feel a bunch of flowers wont quite say thank you for what shes done with the hours and money shes given to it. Does anyone got any ideas or has ayone bought their mum something a bit 'outside the box' Spa or pampering treatments wouldnt be ideal as she does like to be mauled in her words haha.

Thanks

Kate

We wantde something unonventional for our best man. Everything was just so normal and high street and it's not really us and it's not reallyhim - and it didn't feel personal enough given he's OHs best friend - so we visited loads of art galleries looking for something that caught our eye. This was risky as art/sculpture is very personal but we thought we'd be able to get something that was unique, but not too unual.

In number nine the gallery, in Birmingham, we found some handmdae glass candlesticks that fit together as a pair. They're fab, and we're rather pleased with ourselves. It's almost, dare I say it, bland, but really really special at the same time. They cost £95 for the pair.

Sorry to have waffled on, but something one-off / handmade I think is really special. So try art galleries. If they don't have websites just give them a call and let them know the sort of thing you'rethinking of and your budget and they'll send you pictures, I'm sure (I realise you don't have time to visit loads of places!). My mum has the same reaction as yours does to pampering she hates being interferred with ?, and isn't fussy or into ornaments, but a beautiful bowl or something is actually useful aswell...

Blinkin 'eck, I've talked for ever! HTH

We bought my parents a pair of Swarovski swans as a thank you present after our wedding. Swans stay together for life and I wanted my parents to put them up in their house, to remind them of me and my new husband and always know that we are together and happy.

What about a a rose bush for her garden, all the garden centres have them and you can get them with names ie; "Bride" Etc. It will flower every year and remind her of you.

Or a theatre/concert trip, or a Red Letter day for a boat trip on the Thames or a day out you can take together.
