I need your organising expertise!

Hello everyone

Some of you may know me from BT on here, I used to be 'kateg' and before that 'mini'. Well I'm back for some help.

We're renewing our vows in August in a very small service (probably just the 2 of us and the vicar!) in the Actors Church, Covent Garden. We're not even sure we'll have a party after- I need some convincing on that.

Either way, I want a beautiful dress. Probably more bridesmaidy in style that weddingy. I'd like it to be knee length and not just white. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I definitely don't want something available in the normal high street shops because I want it to feel as special as my wedding dress did.

Then I'll need accesories. I love flowers but it seems so pretentious to have a bouquet when it's just the 2 of us. Can anyone suggest anything to use instead?

And then after, the party bit. Should we? I can't decide. All of our friends have got young families and live out of london (spread around the country). It seems unfair (and makes me feel a bit attention seeky) to have another 'reception' after they all attended our wedding 7 years ago.

What are your views? Has anyone got any experience of vow renewals? Pictures, links, thoughts are all welcome

-A very confused and a little bit stressed out wife.

    Hiya

If you don't want flowers as in a bouquet how about a Wrist corsage. It will depend on the style of your dress as to what this will consist of but a few ides for you:

    Congratulations on your news!

Sounds like a fabulous excuse for a killer frock here! Have a look on net-a-porter.com as they have a fabulous evening wear range. The other thing you could do if you're wearing a shorter dress it to treat yourself to a fabulous pair of shoes...

For my second marriage I had a dress made for me and did the sewing of all the crystals etc myself - definitely unique! How about an heirloom bouquet rather than fresh flowers?

How about a tea length wedding dress with a coloured petticoat to add a bit of colour? I think they look awesome!

Think the last one should have shaved her legs!

I LOVE that last dress (minus the hairy legs, of course Smiley atonished) any idea where I can find one? I'd be able to have a corsage with a dress of that style too, wouldn't i?

Ace- I've at last got a picture in my head to work with. Thank you

An Heirloom Bouquet is a bouquet made with all sorts of things such as vintage jewellery - I featured some on my blog a few weeks ago www.lilguyweddings.blogspot.com

I was going to suggest Honeypieboutique as above ^ If I had the legs for a tea length dress I would have gone for one with a coloured petticoat, I absolutely love it. I think a nice clutch bag would work well with it, I'm not one for flowers though really.
