I never ask for vibes or anything but...

natalieexx, 31 January, 2013 at 15:54 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

OK ladies so I never ask for vibes, I don't moan much, and I definitely don't ask for much on here... My mum got diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of January. It was a total shock on the whole family, but it has finally given me the kick up the arse to actually do something to try and help.

I've just signed up for the 10k Race For Life. Now, I know you don't know me very well, but I am not the sporty type at all, I don't exercise, I always have a full face of makeup, hair done, nails done etc and the thought of getting hot and sweaty does not appeal to me at all! But I wanted to sign up to this to try and raise money for Cancer Research UK. I'll probably feel like I'm about to die half way through but that's nothing compared to how my mum is going to feel over the next few months through her treatment.

Please, please, sponsor me. My mum has her operation next Wednesday and I am doing this as a suprise to her. I would love to show her how much I've raised, and she's the one that's inspired me to do it, but I need you guys help.

Even if you can only spare a pound or two, every little helps. I know most of you will have a relative or a friend that's had cancer and the more money they can spend on research, the closer they become to finding a cure.

The link is below, and you can also text NATC51 £5 to 70070 to donate £5, thank you in advance for anything you lovely ladies can give xxx

Can't believe I've already raised £110 - you lot are amazing. I didn't expect such a great response so I've upped my original target from £250 to £400! Thanks for all the support already and if you haven't sponsored me already, text NATC51 £5 to 70070 to donate £5 or you can click the link below. Thank you! My mum had her op and had her lump and some lymph nodes removed. We had a 2 week wait to find out if it had spread and then got the amazing news that it hadn't! The cancer is completely gone and once the scars have healed, she will start her radiotherapy.

A doctor has been researching and has found a way to only treat breast cancer with 3 weeks of radiotherapy instead of 5 weeks, which backs up why I am doing this run - to raise money to fund research like this, to reduce the treatments times and suffering of people with cancer.

Sadly, since my mum was diagnosed, 2 of her friends have also been diagnosed with breast cancer, and so has one of my friend's auntie. It's a cruel illness that affects so many people, I'm doing my part to fight towards one day, finding a cure.

I hope you are all well - a snoop through has shown me some pregnancy announcements since I last came on which is so lovely to see!

I hope you can support me, no matter how big or small the donation. I'm in training now and slowly getting fitter, and once all this horrible snow has gone I'm going to start going for runs too.

Thanks for whatever you can give, and for your support.

    Lots of love! xxx

Fantastic news about your mum but so sad about her friends.

Well done for continuing to raise your money- I did one a few years ago and donate regularly, it is an on going fight.

I've just noticed that hitched cut off the start of my post! It started like this...

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I started a new job at the beginning of Feb and have been so busy with that, and my mobile hairdressing that I do on the side has really picked up too, so I've been so busy! Haven't had the time to come on here and update but I wanted to quickly let you all know how my mum is getting on, and I miss you ladies!

Didn't want to start a new post then not be able to come on here for ages again, so thought I'd bump this one while I'm at it to get this out there some more and get as much as your lovely ladies support as I can.

The only reason I've got time to update today is that I'm snowed in!

    ?
