A bit of background- Me and Mr IB have been together about 6 years and we got engaged in December 2010. Mr IB is from Ireland originally and I’m from the IOM and we live in Manchester together. None of those places seemed the right place to get married so we decided to go away, and started to think about where. We didn’t want it to be too far, so people couldn’t travel for a long weekend, but we wanted the sun. We have been on holiday to Ibiza loads of times so it kind of felt like the natural choice!
21st of June... the day we flew to Ibiza.
I was really worried about the journey, I am a bit of an anxious traveller anyway and this time I had extra valuable luggage. I had my dress, shoes, veil and Mr IB’s suit and shoes in my hand luggage, I really didn’t want that bag to go missing. Add to that the fact we had to pay for all of our suppliers in cash on arrival, and hence I had to carry it out with me, I was a jibbering nervous wreck! Needless to say, the journey went smoothly and we spent the next couple of days in Ibiza paying suppliers and confirming the last minute details. We even managed to go out for dinner on our own before all the madness started and the guests all arrived. It wasn’t until now that I actually started to believe I was getting married!
24th of June- the day before the wedding at the spa!
My BM’s and I had moved into the villa by this stage, and we’d had a bit too much to drink the night before watching the sunset so we were all a bit tender. However we had a gorgeous day booked at Atzaro spa (http://www.atzaro.com/agroturismo-ibiza/en/) so we had to pull it together. We packed up our stuff, all feeling a bit sorry for ourselves and jumped in the car. We arrived in what I can only describe as heaven. It is beautiful. We had a few hours lounging about on massive Balinese day beds, a gorgeous lunch with some champagne (by this stage we were feeling better) then an incredible massage. If you go to Ibiza ever, you must go to the spa at least, if not stay in the hotel.
That evening Mr IB and I, along with our families went out for a lovely meal, then met all the other guests for a couple of drinks and watched the sunset. It was a great way to start the celebrations, and it was lovely to see all our guests in Ibiza for us. Mr IB kissed me goodbye at midnight, told me he loved me and couldn’t wait to see me the next day. I then realised I was a bit drunk, again, and needed to get home so my BM’s and I sped home in a taxi!
