Iceland in March

JLLS, 10 February, 2015 at 13:53 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 7

So we are off to Iceland for our honeymoon on the 9th March and I wondered if anyone has been around that time and has tips for clothing?! The holiday company we booked with said it will be around 4 degrees on average whilst we are there.

Hello! We have recently come back from Iceland (January) where we got engaged - it is very cold and I would suggest taking plenty of layers Smiley smile although air temp may be 4 degrees if there is a wind chill it could get as low as -11!

So I wood suggest take hats gloves scarfs we took thermals too which we were glad to do! I wore 4/5 layers every time out and 2 pairs of trousers!

Hope me this helps Smiley smile

That's great thank you! And this may seem stupid... But what sort of shoes did you take?

How long are you going for! Are you doing a fly drive? I'm enquiring now but for May next year (few months after Lapland to save lol) you must be so excited! I would check snow/ice levels that time of year for foot wear suggestions. Did you know trip advisor has an Iceland forum? I Found the Lapland one by accident just google Iceland forum trip advisor x

We are going for 7 nights - fly out the 9th and back on the 16th! Yeh we have a car for the days we are staying at Hotel Ranga, but not for the 3 days we are in Reykavik. Very excited!! It's coming round so quick!

I didn't know about trip advisor - amazing tip, thanks so much!!

    Hi

    Having been to Iceland twice to so far here's a few tips;

Plenty of layers (hat, scarf, gloves etc)

Shoes; Walking boots are perfect for anywhere in Iceland (Timberland are very popular)

If you are planning of going sight seeing, book car hire before you go and sight see yourself, you get a lot more time to see the things you want to see and can take everything at your own pace

I would also HIGHLY RECOMMEND Blue Lagoon, it is a geothermal spa and it is simply a stunning place to spend the day (again book this in advance and you will beat the huge queues)

    Enjoy!

Perfect, thank you! I've got walking boots (not Timberland but sure they will be just fine!) and am just going to take warm footwear.

We have booked car hire already, and we are going to the Blue Lagoon a couple of days before we leave - we have booked this too Smiley smile

    any other tips?

Wow that sounds fantastic! I have heard so many good things about hotel Ragna :-) I find the trip advisor forums really helpful as so many people use them
