Ideas please

Jade1990, 25 October, 2015 at 15:58 Posted on Planning 0 17

Just want a few ideas for a box of toiletries. I seen this at a wedding a few years ago and thought that it was so thoughtful and perfect if your in need of a little freshening up.

the one in the ladies loos had things such as blotting paper, deodorants, miniature perfume samples, lipbalms, mints, sanitary items, hair clips etc. basically everything you would probably need but can't fit in your handbag!

I wanted to make one up for the men but no idea what to put in there as I know men aren't as high maintenance as us women haha

any ideas??

For men perfume samples, hair wax stuff, combs, deodorant, polos or tic tacs, that's sort of stuff I guess? Im trying to rack my brains to think what my partner uses although he doesn't generally need to freshen up and I only ever need to touch up my make up so not much use

that's great thank you. I wasn't sure whether to just not bother with a men's one but even just a few bits would still work. Smiley smile

I'm not sure my OH would even look in the box!

How about those spot remover things in the ladies for drink drips etc. was thinking about mens ties but probably get more use for women getting it from theirs and sorting the men out.

Wet wipes. For maybe after sweaty dancing.

I'm doing this too Smiley smile

I'm going to include some nice hand soap and hand moisturiser. Tissues, wet wipes, deodorants, body sprays and plasters. Oh and air fresher incase anyone does a smelly! Smiley smile I'm also going to include a little poem that I nicked off pinterest teepee Smiley smile

This will be for both mens and women's. I might include some hairspray and clear nail varnish for the ladies too. To be honest I'm not sure how much the men will actually appreciate it?!

Did you have spare tights on the list? Nail file. Sorry not helping with the men's at all. Headache tablets unless you have kids there.

We did this for a party and for the men we had deodorant, some aftershave, hair wax/gel, mints/chewing gum and some hand cream.

Men definitely don't need as much as women, maybe shoe polish could be an idea?!

I just can't believe that people do this, can't people look after themselves anyone? Are we so incapable of making sure we don't have what we need? We are not short of money and could do whatever we choose to but I'm not going to pay money money for something I wouldn't expect my own guests to care of for themselves

Its not really about people not looking after themselves, i just want to make my guests comfortable. I know if i was somewhere for 12hours i would want to freshen up, and its more of adding nice personal touches to my big day than assuming people cant buy their own deodorant lol. I know i wont have a handbag at my wedding so to be able to go and freshen up during the day will make me feel more comfortable if anything. Plus the fact that there isnt accommodation at my venue so nowhere for guests to go and freshen up should they want to. It might not be what most people would want to spend their money on, each to their own, but for the sake of spending probably £10 its just a little extra that i think people will make use of.

I think this is a nice idea too and I will be doing this at my wedding. Perhaps sun tan lotion if it is a summer wedding? I will also do a flip flop basket for the women which can be bought cheap from Primark x

I just think that we have enough to worry about without adding to it. Not down on anyone for doing it, we all have our own things we want to do for whatever reasons...

I discovered the basket idea at the last wedding I went to and it's a really nice touch. I loved seeing the basket of all the cool things and commented when I came out of the loos. I especially liked the fact they included spare tights! Haha. I didn't use them but I'm always getting ladders. So I'm doing this for my wedding too, but I'm leaving the guys box up to the groom & best man! I've already discussed with them and they said they'd help out to find some manly toiletries Smiley tongue I mentioned the tights and they were like 'Yup, tights, great idea! Some guyliner too...", haha! So not sure what will end up in that basket Smiley laugh

I have done one for the mens and women for mine on Saturday.

    Men have:

    Combs

    Plasters

    Safety pins

    Wax

    Hair spray

    Deodorant

    Body spray

Going to pop some mints in there and also popped in some tissues as you never know what’s going to be sniffly either from cold or from tears hahaha.

Also careful with anything small in case you have children as they may go into the box.

Clear nail varnish is a great alternative for fixing ladders in your tights, at the first sign of a hole, coat the unravelling fabric with a thin layer of nail polish, and repeat again once dry. This immediately hardens the fibres around the area and slows down the laddering process ?
