Ideas please - wedding card accepting

karenanne229, 10 July, 2012 at 16:04 Posted on Planning 0 16

Hi all

Posting on here because have done so before and got some brilliant ideas. I showed H2B a postbox I liked to receive wedding cards etc and he said "it's a bit boring"...he said he thought we should have something more interesting that people can place there cards in/on/whatever!. I went to a wedding recently and she had a wish tree that she used for people to hang their cards on but they are just so expensive.....does anyone have any other "interesting" ideas I could borrow?

Am considering telling H2B to think of something himself but he's not had any brainwaves so far! Help! Would like something a little differnt but something that isn't going to cost the earth either!

Thanks in advance for your help

Karen?

You can hire a Royal Mail postbox on eBay for about £30, they do white or red - I think they're lovely.

I'm using a US mail box which will double as the guestbook holder and after the wedding the memory box.

This is what I'm having - made for me by my daughter (clever girl!)

I got it from ebay. Was a pick up only job about 600 miles awa but luckily for me it was a few miles from my Parents! I asked on here before that and Amazon.com was suggested, think they come in about £30 from there incl. postage. It was fitting for us because we have travel related decorations and the wedding involves everyone having to travel :-)

Thanks batsgirl, will amazon it i reckon. and sorry karenanne for hijacking your thread!

I think the tree idea is lovely, could you buy a live sapling? to hang them from (or have clips pre-tied) and then plant the sapling in your garden/pot it to have forever?

Thursday Bride that's beautiful, your daughter is very clever

Gemicle thanks for the idea. I hadn't thought of that. I am buying rose bushes for my mum and H2B mum to plant to "grow with our love"....I like the sapling idea. Thank you :o)

We have got a silver US Mail box with the red flag bit. I have got some vinyl lettering of Mr & Mrs and our surname to stick on the side. After we will use it in the house, or, when we eventually move, we may put it outside.

We both lived in the US for a bit, so it seemed rather fitting

I'm using this vintage style case as we got engaged in Paris. They do have some other styles and come in 3 different sizes. AND they are a bargain, starting from under a £5!! ?

Thanks - she has made us a wedding present with LOVE cut from maps too. The L O V E are where we will live together (when I move into his next week!), where he proposed, where we are getting married and where we love going on holiday!

    Hello Karen,

We hire out replica Royal Mail Wedding-postboxes, they all come with a lockable lid so they offer that extra bit of security. They are a fun and novel way of collecting your cards aswell as being obvious!

Mine is very similar to this. I had my 'Cards' sign made from 'Not on the highstreet' to fit in with my colour scheme
