Identifying a childrens book - help.

neffi, 8 February, 2009 at 22:40 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

All I can remember that it was two children, brother and sister I think, who ran away and lived in the hollowed out trunk of a huge tree. That's all my pathetic memory retains.

Does it ring any bells with anyone? I *thought* it might be Enid Blyton but I may just be making that up.

TIA.

Thanks but definitely not the faraway tree series. Nothing magical involved.

Was going to suggest 'Babes in the Wood'. They slept under a old tree after running away from thr robbers.

Hollow Tree House by Enid Blyton.

I think there was a rich girl as well, who brought them food etc, and her dog, who eventually got lost, leading to the rich girl (Angela?) getting pneumonia(!) and the brother and sister being adopted by the rich girl's parents.

Glad you found it, I've not heard of that Enid Blyton book before.

This website is great for when you're not sure of a particular book: /discussions/AbeBookscouk_BookSleuth/abesleuthuk?dbg=6

I haven't heard of that book either. I had a look on the enid blyton website, I wish I still had all my famous five books, secret seven, etc.

I've bought quite a few vintage ladyboard books, trying to get the whole well loved series collection.

I found a load of chalet school books in a charity shop for 30p each and now I want to fill in the gaps. Of course, as I start hunting around ebay and Amazon lots of other childhood favs keep popping out at me, lol.

    The Adventure series, remember those?
