4 seconds? wow? Do you bid at the last minute (with like 40 seconds left)? I do that as usually it means that people have all put in the final bids and I am the last one. I always make sure I put in the maximum I am willing to pay to make sure I outbid the previous bidder.

I very rarely lose anything I'm bidding for.

my tip is to have a top bid in mind, but not bid on it. I then watch the clock count down and as long as you're already signed in, when the clock gets to about 13 seconds, you have time to place your maximum bid amount, confirm it and no-one has time to outbid you in the last couple of seconds (unless outbid by an automatic one of course).

I have only lost a couple of the numerous things I've bought by bidding that way.

Oh, now I've shared my knowledge with you, you are not allowed to use it against anything I'm bidding on ?

    Ooh 13 seconds ey? Thanks!

There is something that finishes in 12 minutes, I will let you know how I get on!

I normally wait till 30 seconds.

13 seconds is brave! I usually just about manage 25 before I start squealing with nerves! I also enter my highest bid at that point.
