If I stick to my WW points will I always lose?

Mrs Space Cadet, 2 April, 2009 at 17:21 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 6

OK, so if I weigh and measure, and write down every morsel of food, will I really loose every week? I was really just wondering how hit and miss people find it, and whether you can still get gains even when sticking to points (Pre menstrual retention aside!)

I think that there's just this bit of me who thinks I might weigh in on Monday.....THE SAME! I've already lost over 1.5 stones - and have plateaud (sp!?!) not convinced I'm going to see a nice 1st week WW loss this week?

Hmm, well i stick to my points and have recently started to add in exercise in the form of body attack or spin, some weeks i do the two.

My loses range from 3lbs to 0.5lbs and funnily enough the 0.5lb weeks are the weeks that i have upped the exercise.

So far iv always lost but by a tiny amount.

It is getting harder for me though as i only have 6.5lbs to go

I have lost every week but 2, on those weeks I stayed the same but the week following that I lost more than normal, so almost like the 2 weeks in one go, it obviously just didn't kick in til the day after weigh-in!!

I would think it's unlikely to get gains unless your points are spent on just chocolate and cakes, with some no point veg to keep you going!

If you do plateau, as mrsmagoo says, you need to rejig things a bit, add in some exercise, or adjust what you are eating, especially if you eat the same things every day, or reduce your points.

I have been doing WW for 6 months, there has only been 2 weeks I did not loose

One was when I had a big weekend with a friend I don't see often, and I stayed the same, and the other I didn't track all week, and I gained half a pound.

I do excercise 3-4 times a week though

Thank you all! It certainly sounds good! I've actually had a think about how many points that I was eating of SW free foods, the answer?! A LOT! I SOOOO needed some help with portion control - and it's no big deal so far, as long as I have enough point free veg with dinner I'm getting enough, and it's actually quite refreshing eating a "proper" portion of rice etc - Before now I would have really really piled it on, being a free food!! I think I was eating somewhere between 9 and 12 points worth of rice for dinner! (on top of everything else!) no wonder I was struggling! I'm looking forward to my 1st weigh in now! Hopefully I'll have made some progress on the pesky scales!

I do think it can sometimes vary too on a lot of factors, even if you've been very good and stayed within your points all week - e.g. time of the month, illness, exercise, water retention - there are quite a few things that might affect your weight even if only slightly.

Also your body might have a pattern - I've recently found that my body doesn't seem to register weight loss weekly. Quite often I find that I will stay the same one week, then see a good result the following week - so that might affect it too.

I've certainly been impressed with the diet this week - and early indications on my bathroom scales suggest that I've lost a fair amount! Will have to see this evening! I've stuck to my points, and hope to have a nice loss!

Stazzle, that's good to know! I quite often put on during the time of the month, but it wasn't always recognised as such!
