if you could eat anything without getting fat...

Gone With The Whinge, 2 April, 2009 at 17:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 32

...what would your diet be like?

I think I'd probably stil eat a fair bit of fruit and veg as I enjoy it, ditto wholemeal bread. But otherwise, there would be an awful lot of cheese and butter on digestive biscuits. Oh, and cornflakes with full fat milk.

I don't know why I'm asking this; I'm on a diet ?

Actually probably better than it is now. My problems with food and subsequent obesity seemed to be tied up with the way I view it, rather than it's fat content. I seem to feel like I'm sneaking food when I eat half a packet of biscuits, and I need to hide it from other people. In reality, the only person I'm cheating is myself.

Perhaps if I didn't label food as off limits I would eat a more balanced diet all round.

My username should probably answer that question nicely ? (even if I am 'in disguise' at the mo - it wasn't hard to think up a secret name!)

I do actually enjoy a lot of healthy food, love my fruit & veg, etc. I'm also on a diet so would probably just add a more hot buttery toast with peanut butter, biscuits, chocolate, crisps and cake to my daily food intake!

There would be a lot more cheese, I'd booze it up every Friday night when staying in (we cut this out a while ago; we were getting fat), I'd eat more takeaway curries, I'd eat more dirty Pizza Hut type pizza, I would eat loads more cake and puddingy type things, I'd drink lattes instead of normal coffee, I'd eat Crunchy Nut Cornflakes or have bacon sarnies more, and sausage sarnies with cheese for breakfast. And I'd eat a lot more nachos and Doritos. I looove lardy crisps and dips. And millionnaire's shortbread. And chocolate.

Can you tell I always watch what I eat? ?

I'm afraid I am going to piss all over this thread by saying that I eat what I want now. ?

I have lardy food if I feel like it, I've just learned not to pig out on it because I hate the way that makes me feel.

I love the way healthy food makes me feel, and the way it tastes, and the way exercise makes me feel. Soo it's all good (at the moment. Who knows if I'll still be in this happy place in a couple of months ?)

Takeaways (yay!!!), lots of cheese, normal (i.e. white) bread and cakes. Also fruit and veg, very little meat and lots of fruit juice.

I'm with Lois, I'd eat exactly what I do now but would be thin! And what I eat now I'm afraid includes pretty much what others have listed above.

Chinese curries with fried rice & prawn crackers.

Pasta dishes with creamy mayonaise and creamy sauces.

And i'd probably cook more with butter, which I try and refrain from doing because of the high fat content.

Weight doesn't worry me, it's the heart disease, diabetes and cancers that stop me eating more fatty foods. Saying that, I don't think my diet would change too much, I eat a varied mix of healthy and not so healthy. I'd probably eat a bit more pate and a few more bags of chip shop chips.

I think I'd eat a lot of steak, cream, eggs, crackling and the fat you get on roast beef- I love that. Then after a few days I'd probably get bored and go back to what I eat now.

There would be a lot more cake in my diet. And booze. And chocolate. And cheese.

I wish I liked healthy food. i don't. I eat it because I don't want to be fat.

Similar to others really. I like cereal for breakfast, lean meat, olive oil not butter and a fair few fruit & veg but treats I miss when I'm being good are def cake, biscuits, chocolate, desserts, pastry based things like pies & quiche and chinese takeaways.

Everthing I usually eat (pretty healthy, vegetarian, loads of veggies) plus unlimited chips and cheese which I try to moderate for obvious reasons.

An idea meal for me would be chips drenched in vinegar with grated mature cheddar cheese on top, served with a side of steamed broccoli.

I agree with the fruit and veg, but hate full fat milk so would stick to skimmed.

I would eat crisps every day and cheese by the bucketload.

Oh and obvioulsy chocolate and biscuits.

I'd eat even more crap than i do at the moment. Take aways, pizza, white bread with loads of butter, chocolate cake, fudge, chocolate. You name it i'd eat it. I am overweight and trying to loose some by eating better and have recently started going to the gym. I'm hoping that the eat less move more diet will enable me to get into a dress that i have for a wedding in june. I can't really afford/want to buy another one.

More cheese maybe? Other than that, pretty much what I eat now. I enjoy healthy food, love (and crave) vegetables etc... Sometimes (for sometimes, read when I have PMT or am overhung) I really fancy bad food like slag pizza, so I have it. My relationship with food is improving all the time and I believe that once you're used to eating healthily, you really enjoy the taste and how it makes you feel. When I watch programmes like Supersize v Superskinny, I can't understand how people who just eat yellow and orange food and no F&V can function. It makes me feel a bit ill thinking of all that grease and fat in their arteries and stomach. Ick.

Partial quote of Sophie's post. I couldn't quite be so vociferous on the loving exercise bit and whilst I like healthy food I don't like it because it's healthy IYSWIM that's just a fortuitous trade off!!

If its about getting fat, I'd say pretty much what I eat now.

However, if I could eat anything I liked without getting high cholesterol, bad skin and feeling sluggish/bloated/generally grotty (and tbh if money allowed for eating such things more often) then I'd eat more cake, bisuits, pastries and more old-fashioned stodgy grub with loads of mashed potato and gravy

I am unfortunate in that bestow all food types (well, besides ready meals/freezer food) with equal liking. I am an equal opportunities eater ?

When I was a lot smaller/went to the gym several times a week, I could more or less eat as I liked. I had got out of the habit of reaching for junk so often, though. Just didn't occurr to me to do so, even if it was in the cupboard. One small plummet in self worth and a fair few stone later, I am hoping to get back to that stage and to learn to maintain it. It is not the theory I have problems with...but the practise. Waaah.
