If you could have one more thing...

Sweetpeaposy, 21 June, 2011 at 12:19 Posted on Planning 0 30

Mr Sweetpea and I get married in just over three weeks time and I am starting to wonder what special 'extra' thing I could do for our day as a surprise for either him or our guests. I do realise that I am cutting it a bit fine though to get something sorted!

I had thought about fireworks but have not been able to find a company that I liked who is available.

So the question is if you could choose one more thing for your day what would it be?

    Sell everything!!!!!

I would have loved to have hired a fancy car for Mr C to take him to the church... he wanted the ATeam van but at £250 for what would essentially be a 5 minute cab ride it was not meant to be!

If I could squeeze an extra £400 out of my budget I would have a LED dance floor!!! I really love them and think they give the wow factor but at the min it is just a pipe dream Smiley sad

In sensible terms, it would actually be two connected things; to have been able to invite everyone to the wedding breakfast (at the addition of about £3000 to the budget) and have taken everyone on a vintage bus trip for an hour or so (at an addition of about £1000 to the budget).

If we're really talking "if you won the lottery", then I'd probably have hired the Bootleg Beatles for the evening entertainment, which I believe is about £12,000.

I can honestly say, at 7 weeks and a few days to go, that there is nothing I want that I couldn't have due to financial constraints.

All the things I "Want" have a reason I cant have them. My latest "I want but can't have" is Jimmy Choos - they were a bargain, but I couldn't get my feet into them! I never realised i'd got wide feet before this weekend, but apparently I do!

I'd also love a horse and carriage, but can't as my Dad is highly allergic. I'd love more time with my Hubby to be, relaxing before the wedding (I did have afternoon massages booked the day before the wedding) but, he now has to work right up to the night before the wedding (at the moment) so that's also out!

I think I pretty much had everything I wanted. My OH told me after he tried to arrange fireworks but they were too expensive. I'm glad he didn't, I'm not that interested in them.

I liked the idea of the lit dance floor, but it was £650 so didn't have that. We talked about uplighters too but decided it was unnecessary.

I had thought about a videographer and had contacted the same company that Mrs C used but sadly they are already booked and I would rather use a company that someone has recommended rather than just from a random internet search...

Where in the country are you? The first google result I found - http://sweetsensationscompany.com/priceguide - is much less than that unless you're expecting 400 guests.

A casino. needlessly expensive, would look extremely tacky in our venue and OH hates them, but...I want one!!! Saw it on an episode of 4 weddings and it looked so fun.

A free bar for the evening. It's the one thing I really wish we could stretch to.

A tummy tuck. We have everything we need for our wedding, I'd just like to be slimmer for the occasion.

If money were no object i'd fly everyone to Italy.

As it is, there is nothing that i want that i can't afford at the moment. The only thing i really wanted was for Ooh La La to do my photos but she's getting married the same month so can't!

There are a few things we want but cant afford (and tbh Im not sure even if we did have the money we would spend it!) a 50s band and a 50s car.

The photobooth that my friend had a couple of weeks ago, it was brilliant...we want an original guest book that people actually write in and the guy operating the booth made sure that everyone got their photo stuck in and wrote a message. Even when we were halfway through the evening you could tell that the guest book was going to be the most amazing memento.

However, don't think we can stretch to it so back to the drawing board it is, ho hum...

Ooh I would have so much! Our venue itself has wiped out our budget so not much wiggle room for extras. If I had tons more money I would have: string trio/quartet for walking down the aisle and ceremony; a chocolate fountain; instant polaroid type cameras for each table, open bar, and a band for evening entertainment.

I think compared to a lot of weddings on here and others I have been to, mine is going to be fairly quiet and sort of bland!

As long as your wedding is what you and your OH want, that's all that matters. Don't compare it to others, as it's your special day and nothing can compare to it.

Sure there may be things we wish we could do or have that others are including in their day - but as long as you're happy with your arrangements, your guests won't be comparing so you don't need to either.

I would love more than anything to have someone turn up with my 3 horses at our venue, so I could have them in my wedding photo's. It's not going to happen though, and I think if it did OH would not be impressed!!

To be able to afford a helicopter to the venue.. We are also having the ceremony there too...

The photo of our venue has a helicopter in front and as neither my dad or I have ever been in one would be amazing! As it stands Dad is driving me in his car....

We've got most of the extras that we really wanted but if there was one thing I would have loved it was a horse and carriage. Mr Kooks looked into it but it was £400 for a 5 min journey into the village and that just isn't value for money! He would have paid it as he knew how much I wanted it but I saw sense

2 white doves? I quite fancy this for when we come out the church to release. Also we are having a video message booth set up instead of the usual guest signing book.

The only other thing I'd have wanted would have been the ability to slow down time on our wedding day. I think we did a pretty good job of taking it all in but having a magic button to push to enable us to take more in would have been perfect!

I've done this. Have you looked into hiring (without a driver). I managed to get a Range Sport for my OH for the day. Hefty deposit, for obvious reasons, but the hire price is actually really reasonable and I can't wait to see the look on his face!

    Smiley smile
