If you could stay in any hotel in the UK where would you stay?

Zo, 8 October, 2008 at 09:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

If you had the choice to stay anywhere you could for 2 nights in the UK where would you choose? Im partly curious and partly looking for inspiration for somewhere to stay for our first anniversary (not that it's until February).

Atm, one of the nice London ones, Claridge's or similar (for some reason I prefer traditional to modern). I would dearly love to go to L'Enclume in Cumbria, which is described as a restaurant with tooms. I'm sure there are plenty more lovely country house type places over in England I would love, too.

At home the Brehan in Killarney, the Ice Hotel in Mayo and the Slieve Donard in Newcastle all appeal, and are probably a bit more realistic budget wise.

L'Enclume must have been mentioned on here before as I recognise the website. Going to look at the others later thanks

I fancy a stay at the Crazy Bear just outside of Oxford. I know it's a bit novelty but it looks coooool.

The other place I fancy is Blanch House in Brighton. Failing that, I'd go for somewhere upmarket in London like The Savoy or the Dorchester.

Summer Lodge in Dorset https://summerlodgehotel.co.uk:443/ - We've stayed there every other year for our wedding anniversary (3 times so far including last month)

Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds https://www.barcelo-hotels.co.uk/hotels/central-england/barcelo-the-lygon-arms-cotswolds/ - Have stayed twice although wasn't quite as good 2nd time around.

Burgh Island in Devon http://www.burghisland.com is on my list of places stay in before I die.

It really is fabulous. Totally over the top styling wise and not at all 'trendy' but the atmosphere, food and service are impeccable and we love it.

    Highly recommended.

Depends if I wanted somewhere I already know I love www.chestergrosvenor.com

or if I wanted to try something different I'd research www.kiwicollection.co.uk or Tripadvisor.

I'd probably go for somewhere in Bath as I've never been there.

The Lanesborough. Went there for afternoon tea, would love to have the whole experience.

I've heard Burgh Island isn't as good as it used to be.

Would love to try here, I'm quite tempted by the midweek offer they have on the home page.

The restaurant is (or was anyway) Michelin starred, we stayed there for our honeymoon and it's lovely!
