If you have nothing nice to say and there really is no point to what you are saying...

spain202, 4 April, 2014 at 12:37 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hi Lovely ladies,

This made me laugh so I thought I would share.

A person at work decided to tell me, for no reason, that he does not like the hotel chain that I am gettting married in, and then proceeded to slag it off saying that you could be anywhere in world they are all the same. (Good job your not invited random man at work).

I am getting married in Sandals Barbados to which he has never been to Barbados...hehe.

He then said when he married his second wife they toyed with doing it abroad for all of 30 seconds but they realised that it was more important to get married here...lol OK good for you..hehe.

Also he said the hotels like that will mean you wont get to see the real Barbados as they are all inclusive...wtf. Errrmm....my h2b dad stays there throughout the year, and his family such a uncles, aunts, grandparents live there...so yes we will be seeing the real Barbados with the family who live there. How much more real can you get! All the while enjoying the hotel and being the new Mr and Mrs Smiley smile

Then he tried to imply that hotels dont like you to leave and investigate the island...erm what...really there are no words.

Some people go out of thier way just to be....well again there are no words. Haha haha I thought it was funny, laughed and went back to work.

Is this just the beginning of random people telling you what they dont like about your wedding for no reason? Hehehe how funny.

Pick out something about him and say to him "oh my god I really hate it when men wear red ties/have a side parting/clean shave/roll their sleeves up, I think it just makes them look so ... STUPID" and turn on your heel, swish away, knowing that you lowered yourself to his level, but had fun doing it.

I'm not a fan of sandals, those prices scare me (even at half price). but each to their own in all honesty, I can imagine it'll be a lovely and magical and just what you want so who cares what he thinks. enjoy your family AND your family Smiley smile some people tend to get on their soapbox about anything and everything.

If I was honest, I probably agree with him re: all-inclusive hotels and not getting a "real experience", but you're clearly not doing the whole "shut yourself away" type of thing. Also, Sandals aren't my favourite hotel chain (some dubious policies re: gay people not so long ago), but that's my business, no-one elses.

However, could I imagine ever saying that in person to someone about their wedding plans (actually, WHATEVER their wedding plans are). NO.

I admire you for not giving him what for! I don't think I could have ?

Some people just enjoy putting a downer on things to make themselves feel better, I agree its the green eyed monster!

This really did make me chuckle

and I think my sarcasm may have had to bite back with a swift "Im pretty sure all inclusive doesn't involve handcuffing guests and locking doors" ?

Its part of life, having to work with people that you would never ever talk to in the real world. On a positive note some other guy has just bought fresh cream cakes into the office...YUMMMMM!

Feeling blessed today...knowing you are marrying the person of your dreams is so amazing.

Happy Friday hitchers Smiley smile Hope you ladies have a lovely weekend. xx

Haha, I know, but to be honest he is like this all the time, so there really is no point. Like a child you don't reward bad behaviour so I just ignore and get on with it. lol. I know that getting married abroad is not for everyone, or that the hotel I have picked is not for everyone, but I don't need it to be right for everyone, just for us and it is perfect.

hahah yea I must admit me and h2b chuckled at him basically saying they keep you prisoner of the hotel...hehe. Then when I said about us visiting family while we are there he said ' well why did you not just let them organise your wedding rather than letting the hotel do it'. I did not even justify that comment with a response.

    All good fun. Smiley smile

I had a woman at work comment on my venue - that place is really expensive, couldn't you do it cheaper? My response was, it's the only time I'm getting married, so I can have whatever I want. This response might work on your bloke at work, as he has been married more than once! Smiley winking
