I'm doing it! I'm doing it!

HeavyMetalMaiden, 18 September, 2014 at 10:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

I can't believe I am on day 12 of not smoking!! I have endured hanging out with smoking friends, heavy nights out on the lash, and I still told the fags to eff off!

Over the last decade of puffing away, I had tried to quit numerous times, but this is by far the longest I have gone smoke-free!!

The first week I was off work, so handling stressful moments were non-existant. I have been back and done 2 shifts, I wanted to smoke, but I found it easier to say no. I am pretty sure I am the one that doesnt smoke now out of our circle of mates! I am so freaking happy :-)

Cold turkey seems to be working :-)

    Brilliant!

you are now totally nicotine free in your body, so you are beyond needing patches or gum or anything else. Well done you.

if you want to find any more tips. Or learn about what stopping smoking brings in terms of benefits for each day/week etc, go to the NHS smoke free website.

    Thanks so much everyone!!!

    Smiley laugh

I have been looking up benefits of quitting, and I can't wait to see improvements on the outside, but I do feel better on the inside already Smiley smile

MummyMoo - knowing the nicotine is completely out of my body is a great feeling Smiley laugh

My Mum was a 20 a day smoker and gave up when she found out she was pregnant. I am so proud of her. I know how much she relied on them but she looks fantastic and I can finally hug her without reeking of the things afterwards.

You should be so proud of yourself, seriously.

Wow, well done you!! Glad I'm not the only one who tells myself to F Off when I want one, sometimes I worry I'm going to say it out loud and offend someone!!

TBH, I think if I had a cigarette now the taste would make me ill. I never really liked the taste of them anyway so that's enough now to stop me having one I think.

Keep it up, you're doing so well. Especially impressed with going on a night out and not having one!!

Fantastic, well done keep going it will be worth it. My Mother in law but the money away every week that she would have spent on cigs. She got a holiday out of it in no time.

    good luck.

Yay! Thanks everyone, and for those who have gone so long without a ciggie - that is awesome!! I can't wait to be able to say 'it has been 5 years blablabla'!

It was two weeks yesterday, so being in my third week is something I never thought would happen. I barely think about ciggies in work now, they don't seem to be on my radar anymore. Funnily enough, moments I used to find stressful, I don't anymore. When I smoked I used to get stressed more easily at work/with a tantrum-ing toddler etc. but now, meh, it's all good Smiley smile Anyone else find that?

I have also got super duper drunk over the last couple weeks with mates (as you do), and my hangovers haven't been as bad as they used to?!? Don't know if quitting has helped that or if it my brain playing tricks on me, but either way I am chuffed Smiley laugh
