I haven't posted here in ages (but have been lurking) so feel a bit rude coming in now to share my excitement!
Have had lots of exciting and not so exciting ups and downs with wedding planning and beyond. On the frivolous side, I decided 2 months ago to have TWO dresses and also decided 2 weeks ago I didn't like my bridesmaid dresses so changed them! My hen do was amazing despite a stripper debacle; my friends ordered a Tupac lookalike and 49 year old white guy who's body had seen better days turned up ? They got a refund.
On the less frivolous side, my dad was diagnosed with cancer in July and he's been a bit poorly recently. Last weekend we were preparing my brother to give me away in case Dad was too ill to come but things are looking up now and he should be fine. Long term, his cancer is curable.
As a bride at the end of the planning, I have learned a few things:
1. Don't stress. There are much more important things than the size of your handbag or whether your bridesmaid's having her hair up or down
2. Don't get lost in the planning and forget why you're doing this
3. Let friends and family help
4. Don't worry too much about the detail. Whilst we've put a lot of effort into how the day will run and how it will all look, I've decided to give quite a few of the "traditional" things a miss (favours, flowers, posh car) because the most important thing to me is to celebrate in my own way and not worry about the wedding industry and its profit ?
Good luck to everyone else in your planning / wedding / post wedding journeys. I must admit, one of my favourite things about this forum is seeing the wedding reports with pics so I will come on after the event and post some pics.
Now back to work (last day today) - I need to get that email address changed to my married name ?
