I'm giving up on E*bay

Lillythepink, 9 June, 2009 at 12:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I swear. I don't actually do that much on there, but the morons have finally won out, and I think I'm done.

Last month, some bird claimed the boots were lost in the post, offered a refund then stopped communicating altogether. Having read her feedback more closely, I discover that since February, roughly 10 people have had their items also "lost in the post" and yet still gave her positive feedback. WTF? I've finally got my refund through Paypal. Why don't people neg. anymore?? I have. ?

I bought 3 leapster games, all from different people. One of them has sent me the wrong sodding thing, so now I have 2 the same. Is it me? This happened before Christmas too - the seller said he'd accidentally sent mine to someone else and would forward it on for free once he got it back - I'm guessing he never got it back...

Honestly, I think I'm running at something like 10% dickhead rate on there, ie 10% of the people I encounter are dickheads

Go on, tell me straight - it's me, isn't it?

You can't leave negatives or neutrals for buyers anymore. If you try to get round it by leaving a negative comment as a positive FB you'll get it removed and any strike you give the buyer will be removed. It's absolute madness but the bay are not changing their mind on this one.

Ohhh just realised you're talking about a seller not a buyer. I'd leave a positive if I'd been refunded and the seller had handled the problem well. Sadly not everyone reads past FB like you have and they'll assume theirs was a one-off postage problem.

Yep, it's you! You have a sign above your user name thats only visible to other ebayers that says "f*ck me over, I'm a stoopid" ?

    B!tch!

Even as a seller, I attracted stooopids.

Carrot, if that's the case, why are some sellers still not leaving FB- is it a protest? It ticks me off because I pay immediately and get in touch straight away when there's an issue - I don't leave negative often.

I send everything Recorded Delivery now as every fcuker said their item didn't arrive. I do so much less on there than I used to as I'm just sick of it.

Yeah it's a bit of a protest, and it's also because feedback just doesn't matter anymore for buyers unless you're on zero. Whether you leave it or not their score will always be 100% so what's the point. I always leave FB as soon as someone's paid as that's their bit done as far as I'm concerned- it's always worked for me as I get nice FB in return. Except for the idiot who didn't pay me and then left a neg which ebay refused to remove.

Basically, as a seller, you have to weigh up whether to leave them a positive feedback with an informative comment, that gives people fair warning of what a buyer is up to (ie...no items ever arrive with them, or they complain that nothing is ever as described), and whether you are able to do that without it sounding negative (which Ebay just remove your comment from, so they get a positive but no comment) or whether its best to just not leave any feedback to avoid adding any more positives to their rating.

    Its a rubbish system.
