I'm having a surprise wedding...

Tanith & Richard, 3 August, 2009 at 18:27 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi people, I'm new on here and I'm having a surprise wedding with a green apple theme. My colours are ivory, black and apple green, and we're using granny smith apples as place names, centrepieces and as other decorations around the room. I'm stuck with how to create a modern centrepiece as we've just booked a venue that does not allow any candles (which was the other "cheap" option to decorating.) Our entire budget is only £2000. Can anyone suggest how we can make simple but eye-catching centrepieces using green apples? We don't have a big enough budget to incorporate many flowers. It also can't look like an obvious wedding centrepiece as our guests are arriving at what they think is an engagement party and we don't want too many people to guess what is going on until we arrive a bit late in our wedding clothes etc. PLease help!!!!

I am soo excited! Have been waiting six years to finally get married but we wanted our children to be old enough to walk down the aisle, my two daughters first with my h2b, and my son with me. It's difficult keeping it secret though. I'm sure my MIL will have something to say about not being involved.

I'm no so good with all things creative but just wanted to say congratulations!
There are a few girls on here who are very creative so I'm sure they will be along soon to help.

    When is the wedding?

    Exactly WSS!! How very exciting!!!!

I don't have many suggestions (but there are loads of hitchers who are great at this sort of thing!)... I went to a wedding last year and they had apples as place names, think they just had silver pails with lots for greenery, ivy etc with a few ivory flowers, very fresh countrified, simple and effective and not too expensive I don't think.

    Hi welcome to hitched!

    How about something like this

Or maybe you could put apples in a big glass vase?

Ooh just had an idea for favors if you're having them - how about mini bottles of cider with a personalized label on them?

If you put a ball of florist Oasis on top of the stick you could use florist wire to "pin" the fruit to the ball. However the plant pot would need to be really heavy to stop it falling over.

My colours are Champagne, black & lime green.

Welcome to hitched, when I googled my colour sheme I found loads of pics of apple centre pieces so I would just look on there. We are using limes for our centre pieces.
