I'm Having Second Thoughts about my Dress!! UPDATED WITH **FLASH**

babybirdandmouse, 21 September, 2010 at 21:54 Posted on Planning 0 20

So I paid the deposit on my wedding dress last week and now I am having a change of heart!! I keep going back to a mermaid style dress that at that the time, I was just overwhelmed by and ended up deciding on a more informal one that I've not felt 100% with.

Do you think that the store would allow me to change my order? I have only paid a deposit at this point and I don't think the stores order the dress until at least 50% of the price has been paid, do they?

What a nightmare!!!

UPDATE: Thought I'd check back and let you know that the store has let me change my order and transferred the deposit I have already paid over to the new dress. Here are the dresses!!

The first dress is the one I originally bought but the second is the one I haven't stopped thinking about!!

If you're not sure, call them to make sure it's not been ordered and see if the deposit is ok for another dress.. I'm sure they would let you do that.

    Spooky!

Sounds like me today....i paid my deposit about 3 weeks ago (which was 50% so they have ordered it now)....but been having 'wobbles' all day!

I love the lace/blingy mermaid styles but didn't find one that felt right so i went for a plain dress....i did love it when i tried it on but still keep looking at 'prettier' dresses.......

I think you should call your dress shop asap and see if they've ordered it yet...if they haven't ordered it then theres no reason why they shouldn't let you change it.

    Good luck! xx

There shouldn't be a problem changing it but you must contact them asap.

    Firstly we need a flash!

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think they are obliged to give you the deposit back but since you are thinking of changing the dress they might be fine doing that but like I say I might be wrong so give them a call to ask.

I paid half of my dress on ordering and the other half when it was delivered to the shop, what does your contract say?

They are both beautiful!! I don't know how you chose!!! lol!

I'm having the same problem.....!!!!! When I first touched the dress I chose I got goosebumps and just couldn't stop looking at it (it's not the type of dress I would ever have gone for), and then when I tried it on.... it looked AMAZING!!! However......... I'm now looking at dresses and thinking "maybe I should have picked something more "weddingy"! lol What do you ladies think??

This is the one I picked:

And this is the type I'm thinking of going for:

Mrs_leis_2b i think the dress you have chosen is stunning and much nicer than the other you have started looking at (but then i do love backless dresses)

OOOOOH I tried on the second dress you pictured. I have to say, it's not very flattering at all! Really surprised me because with the corset back and low waist, I would have thought it would be very slimming but I felt quite the heffer in it.

The dress I chose in the end is very similar to the first picture though, and I've been back to try it on a second time and am very, very glad I went for that one. Mine is Sincerity 4520.

Kirstie, love the second dress, from a photographic point of view, that style excites me because I love posing brides in that style.

Mrs. Lewis,, I'm torn, I do love the second one,, but again, I can imagine some really amazing and sexy images with the first,, so I think I'm leaning toward the first because of that stunning backless feature. That said, I'm editing a wedding right now where the bride wore a dress like the second one, and it's very dramatic,, humm.

Oh my gosh, it would be my dream bride that let me pick out her dress, LOL

Thanks for all the advice, hitchers. Sorry I've been a bit absent the past week. I've been taking a break from wedding planning and sipping sangrias in Lanzarote!!

I think I have a clear head now but feeling slightly panicked that I still don't really have anything confirmed and it's only 10 months away!! ?

Clare247 - The first dress is called Anjali.

I suggest you wait a few more days and then decide. It is very likely that you will change your opinion again.
