I'm joining this forum (again!)

Had a shock this weekend when I stayed in a hotel that had a 3 angle mirror. As I don't have a full length mirror at home, seeing myself in all my naked repulsiveness was a real wake up call, further compounded by someone who I think is a lot bigger than me saying we were the same size.

So I'm on Day 2 of trying to lose weight and I've been good so far. I'm not meticulously measuring out my food, but I'm trying to reduce portion size and not eat refined carbs, and eat brown rice, wholewheat pasta, wholemeal bread etc. I'm roughly counting calories to check that I'm not going too far over 1300- 1500 a day, but including a few extras such as 3 dessert spoonfuls of coconut milk in my curry today, that didn't add too many calories but made it a lot nicer.

I'm also cutting out biscuits in the staffroom and eating more fresh and dried fruit instead.

I've taken 3 "before" photos, a full length, a side view and a face shot which are hideous but it would be lovely to think I could one day proudly show off fab "after" photos instead. I've got 4 stone to lose to be an ideal weight, but 3 stone would get me into the healthy range, so I'm aiming to do that by Christmas.

    Well done you.

Be careful of dried fruit and fruit juice - it's coke and sweets with good PR ?

    Well done!

I had exactly the same to lose as you - 4 stone would be fantastic, but would be very happy with 3. I'm now down 2 stone and am noticing the differnce in the mirror and clothes sizes, and if I'm honest it hasn't taken a huge amount of effort. I haven't completely banned 'bad stuff' but I have revised portion sizes and have monitored when and why I snack too, and now rarely eat when I'm not actually hungry.

Good luck and keep us updated.
