Hi all, so I'm back, and although I don't have any professional photos yet, I've put a few guest photos together with this mini report! :-)
How we met
So we met at the beginning of my second year of university. He wasn't actually at my university, and was instead visiting a mutual friend. I had barged into my friends kitchen, slamming the door open in the process, and hitting my poor future OH! He very quickly forgave me, although that might have been the concussion. :-)
I knew he was special that night because he found out that I wasn't drinking and he stopped drinking himself. He said he didn't want me to be the only one who was sober. It wasn't long after this that we were dating, and as his home was an hour away, he spent day after day driving the journey back and forth just to see me. He even drove the 6 hour drive to my home town at Christmas to spend it with me only 3 months after we had got together!
The engagement
This was 5 and a half years after our first date. We were celebrating his birthday in France, and I really wasn't expecting it. We has just finished a picnic on the beach when he pulled out the ring, and all I could say was, 'Really?'
The build up
So we planned everything in an amazing 6 months. There were a couple of hiccups such as my original hair dresser cancelling only 5 weeks before, but other than that it all went very smoothly and was an amazing experience.
The day
I got up early at 7am and got breakfast for me and my bridesmaids delivered to my room. The hotel couldn't do enough for us and we pretty much had silver service in my room. Soon the hair dresser and make up artist arrived. Then the photographer and this made my room massively busy. I was so relaxed though. The vendors kept saying how strangely calm we all were.
Walking into the ceremony room my dad whispered 'I love you' to me and my sisters. I could really feel the support. We tried to walk as slow as we could down the aisle, but I think it was still really fast. Seeing my OH at the top of the aisle was amazing and a memory I'll have forever. He was obviously nervous and he stumbled over a couple of his words during the vows, but it just made me smile. :-)
It went in an absolute flash.
The meal was perfect and everyone loved my mixed seating plan. Everyone loved my personalised sweetie favours. They loved the table names. They loved the table decorations... you get the point! :-)
The reception
I hadn't met my DJ in person before the reception, and it was here I realised he was actually blind and had a helper with him, but wow he was an amazing DJ! He told me that he felt the music. He tried many different genres and he could tell which ones the room responded to most. It ended up that the entire room were on the dance floor, and at the end of the night, we had everyone stood in a circle holding hands, the two families completely mixed, and me and my husband dancing in the middle. It was completely surreal. Lots of drinks were had, loads of laughs, and at the end I had people telling me it was the most fun and relaxed wedding they had ever been to! :-D
Mini flash
Above is my dress and my bridesmaids dresses all hung up for a photo opportunity. Wooden heart reads 'Happiness is not a destination. It's a way of life'
This isn't the exact table centres but mine were very similar to this. This is an example.
This is me and my husband cutting our beautiful wedding cake made by my mother in law. (for those of you who followed my post about this cake, I didn't eat any, and neither did many other people, but it looked amazing)
This is me and my husband having our first dance!
Extra notes
Okay, so everything was absolutely amazing, but there was one tiny thing that spoilt the day a little. There were a lot of warnings on here about Moss Bros and I have to say they were very well placed. I made sure I got everyone to try their suits due to the warnings I had seen on here, and during that we found a number of issues. There was half a button missing on my husbands waistcoat, the shirts weren't the cufflink ones we ordered, nothing was ironed, there was a burn hole in one of the ushers suits and the trousers were all slightly different shades of black. We contacted the head office as the store weren't answering their phones, and they basically told us to sew a new button on and that they would be closed over the weekend. They were massively unhelpful. So we put up and shut up out of necessity and the wedding went off without a hitch. While we were on our honeymoon my mother in law took the suits back and the store refused to deal with them and refused to knock any money off. Basically they were disgraceful.
