I'm new!

queencrunchy, 21 April, 2010 at 22:07 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi,

New bride to be here! After a couple of years together, he dropped to his knee a month or so ago. The wedding is planned for 30th July 2011. So far we have the venue and photographer booked. And I have no idea what to do next! There's no real rush I know, but I want to do it all properly, I've been dreaming about this day forever!

So, hello, hope to be exchanging ideas with you all over the coming months!

Hi and welcome. Where are you getting married? Have you got any colour scheme or seen any nice dresses yet? You chose a fab date Smiley laugh My birthday Smiley laugh You really need to get on with planning, it will come around quick. You've only got 15 months. Definitely time to be thinking about dresses, flowers and DJ soon.

? Hi & welcome to hitched. You're almost exactly a year behind me!! I got engaged last March & booked our venue in April & we're getting married on 31st July this year. You'd be amazed just how quickly it goes but for the time being enjoy planning & looking at different ideas. Are you getting married in a church? If not you made need to think about booking the registrar. Booking it last April we still didn't get the time we wanted.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies guys! And the warm welcome.

So, DJ, flowers, dress next huh? I have a few friends who have done some DJ-ing in their time, one has offered his services. I also like the idea of a live band. Our venue (which I may keep anonymous for now if that's OK, wary of giving out too much info over the internet!) has contacts with an entertainment company, so hopefully we'll be speaking to them soon about that. As for dresses, I saw a Forget Me Not dress in my matron of honour's wedding file, which she still has a year after her wedding. Anybody else looked at these? Any idea of prices?

My head spins with all this. But in a nice way! I always dreamed of the fairytale wedding when I was a little girl. Now I'm the ripe old age of 30 I've realised that my fairytale is actually just being married to the man I love, the princess dress and gorgeous flowers are just the added touches!

Many congratulations and welcome to Hitched (which is very addictive) ?! Look forward to hearing all your plans. Again I echo what has been said - as you're getting married in Summer the height of the wedding season, you need to get your other suppliers booked ie DJ as most of the good ones will get snapped up.

What kind of colour scheme are you going for? x

    Hi again,

Thanks for all the other warm welcomes and the advice I've got so far. I called my venue today and reserved a DJ they regularly use. Apparently he's really good with disco tunes, which is what I'm after!?

I think my next thing will be colour scheme. I like strong, bright colours rather than pastels, so maybe something like a darkish purple or royal blue, maybe with a spot of silver. Decisions, decisions......

Hopefully I'll be able to offer some opinions and views to all you guys too! I can see this Hitched thing becoming addictive!
