I'm not going to be ready in time?!

mummymrs2b, 8 September, 2012 at 13:00 Posted on Planning 0 14

Having a real wobble about timings. We get married at 12pm. I booked make up lady who comes to me, but also booked my usual hairdresser who works at a salon so of have to go there. It only opens at 9am so me and my 2 BMs would have to go there for our hair done before returning to get make up & get everything on etc. I'm going to have to be leaving for 11.45am. Anyone else been in a similar situation? Do I attempt to find a bridal hair stylist to come to us, or stick with my usual hairdresser? When I mentioned my worries to my hairdresser, she said it would be fine as she is doing the same and getting married at 12 the month after me. Help! X

Can your MUA go to the salon too and do make up there?

Could the make-up lady do your make-up at the salon?

It really depends on how long everyone's hair is going to take and how long it's going to take you to get into your dress and how much time you'll want to spend on final details of the way you look.

I had my hair done at 9:00 and got married at 11:30 and had loads of time to kill between the two, but that's probably just me.

Have you spoken to your hairdresser and MUA to how long they expect it to take for what you want? Also, is your dress lace-up? If so, remember to leave time for doing that up.

Do you drive? You could always have your hair done first and then drive back to your MUA at yours and wait for your bridesmaids to arrive after their hairs done, instead of waiting around for all of you to finish.

I got married at 12 and had 2 BM and 2 mothers, the make-up and 2x hairladies showed up at 7:30am and we were only just got everyone done.

I see if your hairdresser could come to you or find one who can come to you.

I'm getting married at 11am (it just seemed like the right time!)... Now I'm wondering just how early I will have to be up to get ready, I was hoping it would just be 8am up, shower and a bacon roll, hair, make up, dress on, then out the door 10.45 all in a nice stride...

I had a similar problem so my hairdresseropened up early and did my hair before the salon opened. Is this a possibility or as others have said can MUA come to salon and do make up there?

I need to leave at 12 and have 4 BMs, 2 FGs and my mum and nan to get ready! Am very worried about this!!Luuckily hairdresser and mua are coming to us as we're kind of in the middle of nowhere!

I would firstly ask if your hairdresser will come to you as some salons allow this for an extra charge, otherwise it depends how keen you are to use your usual hairdresser...?

For what it's worth, our hair took longer than the make up due to tonging and clipping etc so does depend on what type of hairstyle you're having.

I agree with others who've said ask the MUA to go to the salon or ask the hairdresser to come to you earlier/open up earlier. My hair and make-up lady had 3 people to do, she arrived at 8:45am and finished at 12:15 - as an example!

It will all work out fine though I'm sure :-)

I'm getting married at 10.30 (it was the only time the registrar had left!) and staying at my venue so I thought the same, up around the usual time I wake up 7-7.30am, breakfast, champagne, hair, make up, wander down to the ceremony room...uh-uh not a chance - my hairdresser is coming to my venue for 6am...!!! Not that I'm expecting to sleep much but certainly no lie in for me!?

I haven't sorted anyone to beautify me yet, just under 10mths to go, but it will be the BMs and Mom first up if that's the case!! Crikey!!! I don't expect to do much sleeping but I am most definitely not a morning person (add wedding stress into the occasion, I will become Bridezilla!!)

Make sure you get your hair done first then BM's, you can always leave them there to finish up and go home to have your make up done? Just a thought

It doesn't leave you a lot of time at all and personally I would recommend getting a stylist to come to you. Then you don't have to worry about going anywhere and you can relax and enjoy the morning.

I am an Events Manager for The Vintage Salon and we factor 40 minutes per hairstyling appointment and 30 mins for make up. Depending on the time available, we send as many stylists (usually to the brides home or hotel) as are needed to get everyone ready, whether that be just the bride or bride and several bridesmaids, plus MOB, MIL, Granny or whoever else needs their hair and make up doing! As long as you know how long you need to get into your dress and shoes etc, you need to work around that. As others have said, if your hairdresser can't come to you or wont open early, get the MUA to come to the salon. Its your day, so as long as you are ready, the bridesmaids should be looking after themselves!

I'm sure it will all work out in the end!
