I'm sorry, but *cringe*...

What are people's thoughts on this kinda thing?

On RARE occasions, people can pull it off, but this seemed a little....forced?

I think if I'd have been in the congregation (or whatever you have in a church) I may have slipped out the back door!

(There is a strong possibility that I'm just being a miserable b*tch)

This was in a church 2 minutes up the road from me ha.

I like the idea - its quirky, different, funny... But overall a little odd.

I like the funny first dances more than anything! Ha

I'd just seen this on the local news site.

The crazy dance moves kind of tickled me - but it's not really for me. There is a time and a place and I'm not sure that was it!

That's the thing, I don't think it IS any more!

The original ones on YouTube, etc. were great because they stood out and were usually done really well.

Now everyone seems to think they can shoehorn a song and dance routine into their wedding. But then I feel the same way about grand bridal entrances that take about half an hour and have endless pageboys, flower girls, a hundred bridesmaids, troupes of acrobats and dancing monkeys, elephants and giraffes.....all to a nasal, whiny Bruno Mars soundtrack.

Sorry. I was ill at the weekend and it's about to start raining. I've got the hump.

This vicar is on Twitter; https://twitter.com/revkatebottley apparently the ladies walked out mid dance because Aunty Betty needed the loo.

I think it's fun. I'd much rather work with a vicar like this than the ones who ban photos or video recordings from the ceremony.

Completely with you on this one! I'm a dance teacher and everyone is expecting me and OH to do some spectacular for first dance, I'm looking forward to doing a bit of step tapping and not having to concentrate at all on remembering a routine! I teach first dances all the time and I'm amazed people can actually be bothered with the stress of remember it on top of everything else!

Mmmmm, not sure it's the right thing to do in church. To me, it looks totally out of place and cheapens the ceremony. OK for venues I suppose but I also would cringe too but then I'm a bit old fashioned!

Haha I think it's funny, I mean yeh it is cringey but I don't mind that, its just a bit of fun! And also, although people say its been done loads now etc, I've never been to a wedding or heard of any of my friends at a wedding where this has happened so I think it still is quite unusual and as a guest very memorable. Must take quite a lot of organisation! I can see why people would hate it but it makes me smile!

It seems like most of the congregation knew the dance - I thought the point of something like this was the element of surprise. A flash mob dance done well can look great but this was a bit blah IMO and not exactly appropriate for a wedding ceremony in church.

I think if I'd been there I'd have been tempted to leg it with old Aunty Betty!!

Having these as part of my entrance however ?

Not going to say good or bad, but look right at the last 3 seconds, they are now just about to do the part that comes next, which is a very solemn spiritual blessing at the main alter where they will kneel. So its a bit of a gear change. I think it would of worked better if it was shorter and they danced out of the church.

It wasn't executed that well, IMO, but it was fun and made it seem more like a celebration. Don't think it was out of place in a church; a lot of vicars are open to this sort of thing nowadays and I think that canning be a good thing!

I suppose it's more that it's part way through a service. In my church going childhood and early adulthood the actual service was not the place for frivolity, before or after maybe.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! from the comfort of my couch I thought it was very funny. Might not feel the same way if I were actually there though. Very good PR for the church though.

I think that some of the flash mobs you see are great but it completely depends on the atmosphere and the people doing it. This one started off a bit wooden and didn't really get any better! ?

I loved it, but then I'm weird. Our first dance will start as dancing, which neither of us do well, and then descend into light sabre duel - Our guests get our quirky sense of humour and love all things SCI FI - so hopefully none will cringe, but if they do..I don't really careSmiley smile

We had a flash mob at our home blessing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnE2I4zDGp0).

All our guests loved it (didn't think for a minute that anyone would find it cringey!) but having said that, it was more of a performance by the group, rather than anything that the congregation had to get involved in.

Our local church does regular flash mob events in cities, which are great.

I like the Rev. and like the idea. Nothing wrong with it just a bit of fun.

When my sister got married she had a barber shop up on the gallery who started singing on their exit ... A bit like in love actually. It was great and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

It will be the copycat ones that will annoy me.
