I'm weak and a failure

Maxi, 13 June, 2008 at 20:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

After two weeks of no smoking, i've cracked and sent OH to the garage for cigarettes (he is very cross).

I have been a bad tempered moo and have physically ill for the last few days. One glass of wine down tonight and resolve is gone.

I won't stop giving up, just going to buy patches tomorrow (i've been trying cold turkey).

Aah, it is very difficult isn't it? I've given up about 12 times, the longest spell was for 3 weeks and H was the one who went to get me cigs, he doesn't smoke and was so glad i'd given up but said he was so sick of me being a moody ? Enjoy it tonight and try again tomorrow, good luck xxx

This doesn't have to be the thin end of the wedge. Get him to bring you one and lock the rest in the car.

No you don't and if you start now you'll just have to go through the last 2 weeks again. Call your H and tell him to make you stick to your guns.

You can do this and you know it.

When he gets back with them try not to smoke one right away. When I gave up I found that I was fine as long as I knew I had some in the house, if there weren't any then I'd really get cravings and would finally succumb (sp?) and have to go and get some and smoke

Thanks for sympathising ClaireJ - I really don't want to be a smoker any longer, so patches 1st thing for me. At lease then I can tell myself that i'm getting my drug from the patches so won't need the cigs.

Sophie - I was thinking of smoking all 10 of them tonight , one glorious horrible one after the another, until i'm sick. A good idea, no? <hopeful icon>

Did you smoke any? You can do it! Patches is a good idea, its more likely to work I think.

You're not weak, it must be awful tryin to quit, especially with no help as such. Definitely get the patches, and my friend also used the inhalator thing - she didn't have anything in it at the same time as the patches but felt it gave her hands something to do.

Thanks. I am weak though, no getting around that. Just need to buck up on the willpower with the assistance of patches.

Crumple up the last unsmoked one in to a bin as a symbolic decision not to be attracted to this weed again......Get the patches and whatever else it takes.....If you want to really give up, get all the props that you need to support this.

Perhaps even your OH taking you out to dinner every month with the money saved??

    God, I'm soooo jealous.

You must try the lozengers when you get that feeling again, although they probably taste horrible in the side of your mouth, they give you that horrible gob you get after you smoke and they take the craving away.

Four months for me, without any blips (I usually lie about any blips but this time I haven't had any)

Well you're a stronger woman than me. Well done you!! Four months, you've well and truely cracked it.

    Peter - I've still got 8 left ?

You're all shaming me though, so thanks for that. I am determined. Tomorrow is another day.
