I think I prefer the one without the hotel as it's a bit more simple.

I'm not going to help matters by saying that I like the one with the hotel.

I think I prefer the one with the hotel but both are nice. I'd be careful about leaving your personal details visible on a public forum like this for everyone to see if I was you and would recommend you take it down or blur the details so they aren't readable. Not trying to be paranoid, but still....

Personally I like the element of surprise so would not include the photo of the venue, I don't even think we even included the name of the venue in ours. (Although I can see why people do to afford guests to book accommodation etc early)

They are a recent idea,we are making our own so cost is minimal. from our point of view we have people travelling a long way and as the wedding is at christmas we are sending them out this year in christmas cards.

    I prefer it without.

Normally, STDs are just the name of the couple, date and the city/county. Then the venue itself is revealed in your formal invitations. Otherwise, your guests will know everything apart from the time already!

I think Save the Dates are a recent thing that probably started when weddings were booked during peak holiday times. I imagine circles of teacher friends found them useful to make sure everyone was available for a July/August wedding.

The trend caught on and they are a cheap and cheerful way to make the wedding feel official, which is why so many choose to send them as soon as the venue is decided and to mark the start of planning!

I prefer the one without the image, but it might look better with the "Save the Date" text more in the centre vertically on the one without.

I prefer the "without" version, but unless a beer bottle is of particular significance to you, I think it would better with a more delicate champagne bottle, and less solid too. You have very "filigree" looking snowflakes going on round the outside and the contrast with the rather heavy looking bottle looks incongrous to me.
