Info Sheets or Web site only?

saz71, 7 April, 2008 at 12:57 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi all
It's a long way off for me to start thinking about this but will ask anyway!

We have a wedding website through weddingpath which will include all directions, order of service, accommodation, menu, links to gift list etc so I am thinking of referring guests to this on the invite rather than including an information sheet.

TBH, there are only a handful of people that I would think may not have access to a pc and they live locally so know the venue (or would call me or MIL2B for more info - I'll be including our number on the invite anyway)

What does eveyone think?

We are mainly going to do most of the info via a website that we are making - the handy side of having a computer geek as the OH

For relitives who dont have internet, they will get info packs, and people can request them if they want.

    Hope this helps

We're using our website to cut down on costs for invites, so we're sending out 1/3 paper invites and 2/3 e-invites. The paper invites will have a full info sheet and we will ask them to reply via the website if poss. Part of this is because my dad's really ill and if the worst happens I want to cut down on admin for my mum.

Are you going to be printing OOS out for the day or are they meant to remember them/print them themselves off the site?

    Thanks all for the replies.

I'll still be printing OOS as only have 45 to the day (bigger evening do) - in fact our church do an online template so we can easily print ours off! Technology eh!

Good idea about printing the pages for those who request them - will let the mothers know in case they get any requests!

    I'm doing both.

A lot of our guests won't really use the internet and I find that info sheets are quite handy when you quickly need to refer to something -ie you don't have to get on the computer just to quickly check something.

Hmm never thought of putting the info on a website as opposed to information sheets. H2b has his own website so I'll ask him to tidy up the language and we'll prolly use that. Save that paper!

I've put all of our info on wedding path and tbh it's been a godsend for guests. I was able to put hyperlinks to the hotels and accomodation, airlines for example so people can see for themselves what they would get and book online.

I've found I've been able to put far more detail in as well as far more content. The majority of my guests (all but 5) are coming from over 200 miles away so they have been really appreciative of the extra info.

I printed the url on the card that my save the date magnets were mounted on, so people had plenty of time to look at accomodation etc and get early deals.

I've printed the url again on the invitations to make sure people have the opportunity to use it. It anyone wants printed information, I can just print off the pages from the site and send them those, but so far no-one has.

The people who need the sort of info that would be on an info sheet are those who live far away and these are all the very people we keep in touch with electronically anyway, so they are really au fait with the web etc

    HTH

I've done both but only printing the information sheets out for people who don't have computers or will be confused by the website (people like my mum tbh).

These web pages thingies sound great - how can I set one up?
Is there a charge - and how long does it remain active?!
Do you need to techno-minded or can an IT amateur cope?!
    Thanks in advance!

    I'd do both.

Some guests may not have internet access and others may prefer to have the info sheet to hand to check for dates/numbers/directions etc.

We set up a wedding path website but never used it our guests seem to like the info sheet where its easy for them to check info.
