Informal easy tapas-y supper ideas please

Knownowt, 24 March, 2009 at 09:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

We've invited some neighbours for a drink in a few days. She's just sent me a text asking whether we'll be eating or should they eat first. Well, I was imagining that we'd eat afterwards (ie they would come round 8-9pm or something then sod off) but I'm not sure how to say that, and I certainly don't want to eat before 8pm. So I'm going to do some food. I was thinking of someting tapas-y but tapas is actiually loads of work in my experience as you have to do so many different bits.

Can anyone give me ideas for things that might create the same vibe as tapas but that won't involve much work for me? doesn't have to be tapas, I just want informal snackiness but with enough food to satisfy our enormous appetites.

Bread, cheese, pate, celery, radishes, then fruit or some sort of patisserie thing.

Could you make a tortilla? Then you can make it beforehand and just lightly warm through. Along with the brushettas and antipasti type things and some olives, can all be done way ahead and lots of carbs to soak up the booze.

    WEES: bread, pate, cheese, salad.

Or else baba ghanoush, hoummous, tzatziki and flatbread, with some falafel and/or strip of lamb if you can be arsed.

    Brownies or similar for pud.
