Initial Suit Fitting *with flashes!* Thanks BespokeTailor!

Blonde Viki, 20 June, 2011 at 18:47 Posted on Planning 0 9

So I took Mr BV to Jack Bunney's for his first suit fitting today! I need to say up front that I went with really preconceived ideas that I wanted the boys 3/4 length 'Prince Edward' jackets and nothng else would look as good but I have been totally turned around by the experience.

We had wonderful service, attention and advice from Marc and Peter and I@m really grateful to both of them for their advice, plus their sense of humour made the whole experience a lot of fun. OH is quite sensitive about his slim frame and was worried the suits would not fit him well but (as I hope you'll see from the pics) Marc took this in his stride and ensured OH looked v dapper!

We're now down to 2 options, the shorter jacket 3 piece suit or a morning suit which feels more 'wedding-y'. I never get to see OH in a suit as he doesn't have to wear one for work so this was really exciting for me - I think he scrubs up well, but I'm biased!!

Have a look!

3 Piece suit and same suit with wedding-y waistcoat:

morning-suit:

we've also got to decide about what colour cravats etc but I'm glad to have made some progress with this today as suits are the last thing we need to book!

Sneaky pic of Marc helping Mr BV with his cravat, this is just after OH had recoiled in horror at the sight of pin heading towards his throat - really don't know what he thought Marc was going to do with it!!

Happy to have votes on which suit /waistcoat you prefer!

Once again, big thanks to Marc and everyone at Jack Bunney's for taking the time to let us try possible combination and talk us through our options. Can't wait to come back with my dad and see him and OH in their suits together Smiley smile

    Thanks BV ?

It was my pleasure. I enjoyed the whole experience, both you and your OH are very easy to talk to. To be honest on a couple of occasions I was losing my professional track becasuse I was so caught up chatting to you both! ?

I look forward to meeting your parents and finalising the finer details.

    Thanks again,

Marc (the funny looking dude standing next to BV's OH)

Glad you had a good time - only wish we'd gone earlier on in the spending...

Oooh, loving the suit flash. I think the tails are wedding-y, in fact that's the exact reason why OH has decided to go for them, plus he wears a suit for work and that does not make his pulse race at all! Which did your OH prefer once he had them on? Apparently the tailcoats are quite heavy to wear.

Tail coats should be lighter weight than their shorter cousins. If you try the same fabric suit in both styles the tail coat should be lighter because it has less interlining and canvases. Having said that some hire suits I have come across recently are seriously heavy (i think they are being made to really last!)

I like the morning suit with the ivory waistcoat more than the other outfit, although they're both nice.

Thanks for the lovely comments guys, I'll pass them on to Mr BV (when I am brave enough to admit I posted pics of him on here!!).

It was a pleasure to meet you too Marc Smiley smile

It will be hard to make a final decision about the suits/cravats/waistcoats, but as I think he looks rather fine in all the combinations we tried, the final decision will be for Mr BV to make - glad that's one thing I don't have to think about!

I'm also not going along to the fitting where all/most of the boys will be there as I want there to be some things that remain a surprise for me!
