inside of invitations

narie, 20 April, 2011 at 21:30 Posted on Planning 0 2

I have finished making the outside of my DIY wedding invites and am have spent the last 3 days trying to use word to create the inserts to go inside. I am unsure of where capitals should (rather than just for names)and also other punctuation. Please can you have a read of this and tell me if you think it is worded okay - and also if you think capitals are needed where i have put them... I am trying to make them fit a6 landscape and the writing will be centered in the middle of the page...

This sounds great, and is worded well. I think "To" and "As" do not have to have capitals but it looks OK as they are the first word on new lines. "Husband and Wife" could have capitals if you wish, because they are title's. "St" should have a full stop after it "St." as it is an abbreviation of Saint. "Reception to follow at" should have a colon so it reads "Reception to follow at:" but that's all just in my opinion. I bet they look fab, worth all the hard work.x

Personally I think most of the capitals are unnecessary. You have capitals to start a new sentence, so if you took out the spacing and had a look, you'd be able to see it better. Like this:

Bride's Name and Groom's name, together with their parents, have great pleasure in inviting Guest's Name to share their love and happiness as they become husband and wife on Saturday 22nd October 2011 at 2pm at St Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church (am assuming the N...I...I... is the address?). Reception to follow at ...

But that's just my opinion on what looks best, you'll find that something seemingly innocuous like invitation wording is actually really personal and there's no one wording that everyone agrees on!

Thank you both for your replies - i know it sounds silly but i just dont want to give out invites and have certain people make comments about how i have chosen to set it out and punctuate (as i am a school teacher! - i am paranoid that they will be looking even more closely)..

job for tmrw is to get up early and get crackling with getting them all printed out and then start the job of sticking in!!
