I took it out as soon as i paid the deposit on the venue, which was also basically the first wedding related thing with any cost that i did.

Who have you gone with for your wedding insurance cover?

We went for Ecclesiastical. I work in insurance and know they are a pretty well established company. I hadnt ever heard of some of the other suppliers that I saw.

Great, thank you. We're about to pay the deposit for our venue so I guess it's a good time to buy insurance.

Wow, looking around there are so many companies providing this and at a range of prices. Better get comparing.......... ?

All the wordings are going to be different, but looking at my Ecclesiastical wording in the section covering Failure of Suppliers (which would cover you for lost deposits in the event of the co going bust etc) there is nothing to indicate that it has to be deposits paid AFTER the insurance is taken out, so should cover all regardless of when you paid them.

I think that a lot of the insurers will put their wording on line, and I would DEFINITELY recommend reading this before buying.

    Hi

you should be covered for your deposits made in the period before you sign up for the insurance but on the proviso that there are no "known problems" before the insurance is taken.

in other words, it won't help to take the insurance once there is a problem

    hope this helps
