Interior paint colour help please

KB3, 7 May, 2009 at 14:45 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

We are currently decorating our hallway, stairs and landing. The flooring in the hallway will be a dark walnut stain on the orginal floorboards, and there will be carpet on the stairs & hallway, colour depending on the walls, but more than likely a nuetral biscuit / coffee colour.

Our living room which is open plan and leads directly off for the hallway is these colours:
Walls - https://www.wickes.co.uk/Colourways-Emulsion-Colours/Colourways-Silk-Emulsion/p/163377
Chimney breasts a colour very similar to this - https://www.dulux.co.uk/servlet/ColourSchemeHandler?name=red_stallion_2
Flooring is dark walnut, with dark brown leather sofas, walnut shelving etc.

I'm struggling to find a colour that will work in the hall, stairs and landing that is light yet goes with what we already have. Any suggestions?

We will also need to get some radiator covers and am wondering what colour we should get them in? One for the living room and one for the hallway.

TIA ?

We went with a neutral gold in our halways so it would go with everything.

We went with Benjamin Moore "Cornsilk" in the hallways and "Westminster Gold" in the dining room (which if I did it agon I would use in the hallways)

    http://www.benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=contentrenderer_1_2&contentrenderer_1_2_actionOverride=%2Fbm%2Fcms%2FContentRenderer%2FrenderContent&contentrenderer_1_2cnp=public_site%2Farticles%2Fmain_page_articles%2Ffh_explorecolor&contentrenderer_1_2np=public_site%2Farticles%2Fexplore_color%2Fec_virtual_fan_deck&_pageLabel=fh_explorecolor

You have to search for the color by name.

Do you think that would go though ATG? I'm not sure a cream / magnolia type colour would work as they are so far apart. Unless we went with like a sandstone. I've been browing the dulux website for ideas and it's so hard without seeing the colours on your wall.

Something like this maybe? https://www.dulux.co.uk/servlet/ColourAvailabilityHandler?name=malt_chocolate or lighter still?

I spent hundreds on tester pots before. We were determined not to be a boring magnolia box and now look at me struggling ?

I think I'm going to buy a few testers from this range and see how they look:

Personally I would go for a lightish blue something along these lines

    https://www.dulux.co.uk/colours/warm_blues.jsp Maybe inky pool 5 or 6.

We have a dark oak floor leading into the living room with a wheat coloured carpet, brown/red leather and blue walls with a "feature wall" of gorgeous gold with the same blue veined through it and it's beoootiful, Obviously I never chose it ?

I've always fancied green, like an Olive or Herb colour, I'm liking Inky Pool!
